Yeah man, like Matchett from Mantua we'd have to add to that. And what would be used to get a Sutter replacement? That would be clearing out more depth.

mid pick, minor prospect... going rate for a deadline rental 3rd line center.

Shutdown 3rd line Center is what he "would" be. And gauging his points while winging Adams and Sill for over half the season? Cheap shot and not a real way to value him.
- Guile

I don't gauge Goc by his wings, his Fenwick, or his Corsi. I gauge him by my eyes and his production. He's gotten significantly elevated minutes (14 minutes + per game) including power play time during this spate of injuries, and I've seen him get numerous clean scoring chances and even a breakaway hear or there and has done absolutely next to zilch with those opportunities. He has a grand total of 2 points (the much maligned Craig Adams and Rob Scuderi have 4 each by comparison!) this season and nothing in his career point totals previous to his acquisition indicate he's anything better than a solid 4th line player. Using the 3rd line as a "shutdown" line is an outdated thought process. The 3rd line in today's NHL needs to have some grit, speed, disruptive quality, bring energy, and be able to provide secondary scoring. I'm fine with Goc anchoring a 4th line, but IMHO nothing he's shown gives any evidence to merit the thought process that he would be anything other than a massive step down from Sutter.

um... a top prospect in the league was in there. duh.

Ah okay, let me rephrase:

You're not getting Taylor Hall (if he's available, which I doubt) for a bunch of 2nd/3rd line players, a 1st, and a high-potential yet completely unproven prospect.

Better?

yes... and maybe not... but it would be worth pursuing. I wouldnt give up maatta at all that would be a deal breaker. I wouldnt give up multiple 1sts. if the pens made a reasonable offer such as the one listed above and got beat by someone else, I'd be ok with that. but to not go fo it would be dumb

Goc required a third and a fifth! The Pens would be way too top heavy, again.

Waste of picks imo. Goc is completely overrated on this board. Wouldnt think twice about making him a healthy scratch or sending him elsewhere at deadline.

And what, have Andrew Ebbett as the 4th line center?

healthy scratch? You might be right on him being overvalued here due to possession stats, but scratching him makes you retarded

Goc isn't a third line center! Hell, Sutter likely returns a mid to late first or two seconds at this point.

Ive thought about it a few times...never could bring myself to actually attempt it. Managed to down 2 in one sitting and didnt think it was too bad. Ive been hitting Meat and Potatoes downtown quite a bit before/after games--whole different level than BFGG, but delicious nonetheless.

LOL really.. Goc 4 points in 40 games for us. Yeah I'm sure he can handle third line duties over the season. He is a good fourth center, nothing more

Holy crap how many times and how many ways can you say the exact same thing? You're opinion is noted, dually noted 100 times noted, chill out, none of this has any chance of coming true, this thread could be 5 pages shorter if you just said your piece and got on with your day.

You are not getting Taylor Hall for a bunch of 2nd/3rd line players and a 1st. Not happening. No way, no how. Because, if he truly is available (which I doubt he is), you would be competing with 28 other teams, and the packages they could offer would be way more substantial and appealing to a rebuilding team like Edmonton.

This.

I know the flyers suck this year and flyers fans in general don't offer the most stimulating conversations unless you can discern the meaning of one click and grunt pattern from the next in order to exchange basic thoughts with each other, but why do you come here, to your biggest rivals thread? As soon as any of us see what team you represent we just don't care what you think. It's like a Mongol in a Hells Angle's clubhouse. And yet you're here every day? It boggles the mind.
