Yzerman wouldn't. - Topshelf Mountain
Exactly. It's a steal for the Penguins if you look at production in a vacuum. But Crosby exists outside of that vacuum and means more to the Penguins/Pittsburgh than just a top-line center. |

Someone proposed 87 for Stamkos and Hedman as the centerpieces coming back. Also including Druin and 5 1st round picks.
So it was really more than just 87 for Stamkos and Hedman.
Hell, I'd consider moving 87 for those 2 solely. - 87_71_11_29

Hall is a bona fide superstar. Neal and Kesler are very good hockey players. Not even close to comparing. - jmatchett383
I would hesitate to say superstar. Talented, dynamic player no doubt. Potential is there.
Hey, no need to convince me about Hall. I'm all in if we could convince Edm to give us Hall for anything we had.
I just don't see a fit. |

So I just read that Maatta, Fleury and Bortuzzo are being tested for the mumps now.
Good God! How inept are the Penguin physicians??? |

Superstar? Maybe in a different market, but certainly not top 5 in the league, not even top 10..15? - Doogs
He's a top-line winger on any team in the league. Just because he's a fantastic player on a God-awful team shouldn't play into that. |

Pens need to stop saying they have the best doctors. Over the years they have misdiagnosed players, let players play when they shouldn't and now have an outbreak of a 19th century plague going through team, management, and sick kids in hospitals....

I was just using the Penguins as an example. Unless one of Malkin/Letang are moved, I doubt Taylor Hall is coming to Pittsburgh unless there's a 3-way trade. - jmatchett383
Did you hit tour head? you don't trade Malkin. Perhaps Giroux/B.Schenn will get you Hall |

Hmm... I'll believe it when I see it. Dumoulin has looked really good to me. I think it's best to keep showcasing him, but for my own personal pleasure, I'd like to watch Harrington play in the NHL. I want to form my own opinion on the people that say "solid, stay at home 3/4/5 defenseman" versus the people that say "heart and soul, 2/3 defenseman and future captain". |

I am by no means saying he isn't a talent. Just not willing to put him above MANY other forwards and quite a few D men. And I am not looking at players on the Pens team other than Sid and Geno...perhaps Letang (lower on the list). |

Are you unable to read and comprehend presented thoughts? That's my point. UNLESS you're trading 1 of those 2 you're not getting Hall, thus, you are not getting Hall. Reading comprehension - get into it. |

Take your pic, dumoulin is the most proven for a perron deal. He could play right now top 6, next year top 4. Plus they can get a 2nd and third most likely.
Maatta could work for ebs - znagle
I don't think Edmonton wants D prospects and regardless of how we feel about Harrington and Dumo they are prospects. You want Perron it cost Sutter. You want any of the guys you mentioned it costs sutter aside from Tlusty. |

Well its either that or Scuds is sitting. Harrington is skating with Hoff while Dumo, Scuds, and Despres are rotating. |

Probably a fair question:
Derrick Graffius @TK_Noodle 12m12 minutes ago
So is Maatta going to wind up with the same injury prone label as Bennett? Shoulder, cancer, shoulder again, and maybe now mumps...
Even add someone like Bortuzzo to that list. We're probably a little unfair to Bennett at times. He's not the only one constantly battling something.. |

Which is why an organization like that needs to draft well... and they have been pathetic at drafting and/or developing talent.
Look at this horrible history of draft picks after the 1st round.

I don't think cancer and/or the mumps should be labeled as "injuries." |

Yea, I'd agree with you. Letang got the injury prone label after having a stroke. Let's just call it "ability to be on the ice". The unit of measurement will be an Adams-gram. |

The Penguins were the 5th team to have this Mumps ordeal, 12 players on 4 other teams had it, so it's not like it is only the Pens dealing with this issue. When there is a proven test for Mumps and those tests come back negative, how much blame can you really put on them? I am pretty sure when you have to send blood samples to the CDC to positively identify something when convential tests have failed and that disease is also something that the players have been vaccinated against then you are dealing with some pretty extenuating circumstances.
Also, I think referring to a disease that causes swollen glands with pain that is treated with ibuprofin and a minimal possibility of having swollen/painful testicals as a plague is a little over the top. |

No, and again for the same reasons. He's more to the Flyers than just a player. He's the face of the franchise.
That said, I think they're more or less on about the same level, but I'm biased, so I would prefer Giroux. |

Ryan,
In response to your Weber for Hall offer, I don't think Nashville does it for two reasons.
1) The Predators have invested a ridiculous amount of hard cash into Shea Weber based on his contract structure, and I can't see them being cool with paying all of that money just to trade him.
2) Nashville is a fantastic hockey market, and Shea Weber is their captain and the player they have chosen to lead them into the future. The fans adore him (rightfully so) and he is the key to the team's connection.
So, in a vacuum, Hall for Weber is a fair value trade (I'd say Weber has more value as an elite defender is the hardest commodity to find in hockey), I don't think Nashville does it for other reasons.
Think of it like this: If the Penguins got some package like Stamkos and Hedman with 50% contract retained, Drouin, and 5 1st round pucks for TB for Crosby, would Pittsburgh trade him? The smart hockey move would be yes, but they wouldn't, because he is more to the Penguins that just their hockey player. He is the player they have sold to their fans as their leader, and deviating from him would not sit well with the fans. - jmatchett383
100% agreed. Moving Weber would be like some of the clowns on this thread that think the Pens are moving Malkin (esp mid season)... not happening... Hall is not being moved unless someone overpays... If the pens want to move Maatta (hurt), sutter, despres, sunqvist and a 1st im sure they ll listen... but why trade a guy thats not the problem???? |

I've been screaming the same thoughts in my head. You can't lay blame on doctors when they've done everything by the book & the book has proven to be wrong. Vaccinated players & tests all point to "this isn't the mumps", you can't really be held responsible when every conventional method of telling "is this the mumps or not?" has said "this isn't the mumps". |
