So whose going to pony up 2 2nd rounders for Coburn at the deadline?
What if Devils call offering their 30th for Coburn? - Just5
Assuming injuries, they'll get value for Coburn. Won't be the least surprised if it's a late first |

Not sure. Bellemare had some success, but he's been unable to generate much with Rinaldo and VandeVelde as his linemates. - Jsaquella
I honestly don't think any skilled player can be a difference maker centering a line that features those two. I totally understand why fans would be upset with Vinny but let's be fair. Vinny is never going to get better placed in that type of situation. I'm all for looking to upgrade the fourth line. |

Playing him on the 4th line would be good. Throw Umberger down there too and play them against other 4th lines.
Our 4th line has scored 2 goals this year - PhillySportsGuy
I actually think Umberger is a good fit on the 3rd line with Coots and Read. There's some chemistry there. Is it perfect? No. But the last few games it seems like they're coming together. |

I would want Bellemare in the top 9. Thats too much to ask for though.
I find it amazing that Akeson wasn't doing enough in his 5 minutes of ice time on the 4th line, but VDV and Rinaldo have been doing enough. - PhillySportsGuy
I think that Lecavalier having a guy like Bellemare actually gives him a bit of a chance to generate some offense.
My first consideration would be seeing effort and steps towards being effective. If Lecavalier came out and was busting his tail-like Berube says he is in practices-then I'd consider moving him up, even if the offense wasn't translating into points.
Because if he's skating hard and showing effort on a 4th line, he's going to have a better chance to be productive and earn a chance on a skilled line.
The improved effort in practice should be a ticket into the line up, it shouldn't necessarily be a first class ticket to the second line |

Umberger is doing a couple things out there. He is doing much better in digging for pucks and he's making a lot of one touch passes/deflections/nudges in the O zone that find his linemates. |

I'm not even looking for him to be a difference maker. I want to see the effort and fire that shows me he's not here to simply cash a pay check. If he comes in on a 4th line and is busting his ass and working hard, even without production, I'm willing to say, OK, this dude's earned a spot on a scoring line.
That's why he's been a scratch. It's not because he hasn't scored. it's because his effort has sucked and he seemed as disinterested in working harder to earn a bigger role. |

I dont know if theres anything that can help VL. He's just not good.
It's like a doctor saying "Theres nothing we can do. We should just make him as comfortable as possible" |

Lecavalier had a strong start, got hurt and was reduced to the linemates that he was. Could Vinny give more? Maybe. However I can't blame him for being deflected. Umberger isn't playing the fourth line. Read hasn't prior to his breakout. Brayden Schenn had awful moments last season and wasn't demoted in anyway. |

He played solidly on the west coast swing, was bad against Columbus, better against NJ and Carolina and invisible last night. He's been better than he was over the first 20 games or so, but he's still struggling with consistency |

I wouldn't play VLC because of his skating and lack of defensive acumen, but that's just me.
I don't expect him to do anything, but that means I won't be disappointed |

He didn't immediately go to the 4th line when he got back from his injury. He was still on scoring lines and not doing anything. Getting PP time and being utterly useless.
There have been others who didn't perform, either. But those others are more well rounded players. Matt Read is a good PK guy and solid defensive forward, even if he's not scoring. Umberger can be used on the PK and give you a solid defensive game.
But Vinny wasn't playing well, he didn;t seem to be working hard, and worse, he didn't seem to care. Until he got benched. |

Just as good players have bad stretches, bad players can have good ones
Umberger's still bad. Playing better, yes, but still bad, and I have little doubt that what he is will show itself before too long

Easily a late 1st at the deadline. EDM offered three 2nds for him at the draft. |

You're right I did finally get it, that's why I'm saying that the Flyers didn't trade for Pronger, they traded 4 first round picks for a first round pick.
