So does people dying in drunk driving accidents. Doesn't make it less stupid.
Laughton has been highly effective, providing good two way play and chipping in offense. He's also one guy who is giving an obvious effort night in and out.
Sitting him would be dumb, period. Sitting him to get Vinny's corpse in the line up is really dumb. - Jsaquella
Comparing a rookie sitting for a game to drinking and driving accident isn't moronic comparison at all.
No, what's stupid is the collective group on here who fancy themselves intelligent people jump to conclusions after a number of options being suggested in losing their minds based on one of these scenarios. Barry Trotz considered sitting rookie Evgeny Kuznetsov to get Brooks Laich back into the line up just a matter of weeks ago. It happens. |

Yup. No doubt about it. Would be a bad decision. |

It was one of the options I put out there a long with Vandevelde and Bellemare sitting. |

Morin would have been nice, but we sadly didn't have an Erixon to give up. - Tomahawk
But we have MacDonald on a good contract.

Gotcha. VDV makes more sense, to me. Then Rino. Of course, I'd actually probably start with Umberger unless the Flyers really are tanking on the sly. |

I kinda get where you where trying to go.....but Laich was playing an important role....Vinny has really done nothing of substance and actually has hurt them when in the line up....Laughton is proving to be a nice spark on a team that really needs one....I wouldn't risk doing anything to Laughton at this point, bsides giving him a second line role. I won't lose my mind over your scenario....but I respectfully can't agree....

Laughton had a career high in ice time against Tampa. It's hard to imagine him being a healthy scratch. |

Do you guys honestly believe Craig Berube makes these decisions in a vacuum, with no input from Ron Hextall?

Yes because letting berube do what he wants is the best path to macdavid
he will toss him after this season and bring a competent coach.. |

It's obviously not ideal. I'd sit Vandevelde or Bellemare first. |

He probably plasters Chief's office with passive aggressive post-it notes. |

so you're saying rindalo can't shoot or pass? if rinaldo can't play well defensively why is he out on the pk? - 2Real
Because he's the best option, i.e. the tallest midget |

Way to miss the point on the comparison.
When the idea being suggested is stupid, there's no jumping to conclusions. Lecavalier has had a season and a half now, as a Flyer. He's been bad for 90% of that time. At what point does the way he's performing now trump his past glory for you?
Not saying it doesn't happen, but when it does, it's generally a dumb idea. You want to scratch VandeVelde? Great, 100 % on board. Rinaldo? Absolutely. Neither does enough good to justify a spot. Sadly, Lecavalier no longer does enough to justify a spot |
