Do you guys honestly believe Craig Berube makes these decisions in a vacuum, with no input from Ron Hextall? - johndewar
Nope. But I wonder if he has to check with Hextall on who to sit & who to play, then why do they have a coach at all? Let Hextall do both jobs and save a salary |

It's...not a bad idea.
It's what they often do in football, right? The GM is the coach, more or less. |

Way to miss the point on the comparison.
When the idea being suggested is stupid, there's no jumping to conclusions. Lecavalier has had a season and a half now, as a Flyer. He's been bad for 90% of that time. At what point does the way he's performing now trump his past glory for you?
Not saying it doesn't happen, but when it does, it's generally a dumb idea. You want to scratch VandeVelde? Great, 100 % on board. Rinaldo? Absolutely. Neither does enough good to justify a spot. Sadly, Lecavalier no longer does enough to justify a spot - Jsaquella
(frank) it, scratch Voracek, Giroux and Simmonds and dress 8 Dmen.
Dammit, I want that top 3 pick! |

On most teams the coach has a huge amount of say in who makes the team. GM usually handles drafting and trying to get value for the players the coaches decide no longer fit.
I get the desire to dress Lecavalier. They're paying him a ton of cash. He's a big name vet, who is obviously pissed at not playing. I just don't move Laughton out to bring him back in.
I'd probably scratch VandeVelde, Put Vinny at 2C with Simmonds, slide Laughton to LW, Schenn to the Couturier line and Umberger to RW with Bellemare & Rinaldo
That way you have Laughton's speed and energy on that line, and Vinny can set up and be ready for one timers and open shots, while Simmonds and the kid work the boards and do the bulk of the skating. |

Why do that, you may win by accident. Just forfeit. Or dress 20 homeless dudes. |

I think it works a little better in a league where most guys you draft don't have to go through a million years of development. |

Yup. Right into the gladiator pit. Survive or get pooped out by the lions the next night.
Seems reasonable to me. |

That's bullpoop. He got shot. Sniper in the rafters. The NHL should apologize and give Neal $10,000 for defamation of character. |

Yeah, but you're mean.
Actually, I'd tack on another $5k for being a former Gwen.
Think a tripping penalty was called there? Also, loved the shin grab.
