Just watched OT again, and what a nice board play by Despres to keep the puck and ultimately led to the goal.

I like Bryan Rust. I said earlier this season that he reminded me a little of Tyler Kennedy how he always seems to be around the puck and going to the net.

I think he has better hands than TK, but he can play that game. A nice guy to have on the bottom six. He is a smart and responsible player who got a solid foundation from a good program/coach at ND.

He has a way to go and needs to get stronger on the boards, but he could someday end up being a Pascal Dupuis type player if he keeps developing.

Given spaling's complete lack of any play making ability, I think rust gets a game with Sid. Why not? See if the kid steps up. can't do less than what spaling provides.

You know I though Spaling was going to be better, but he just doesnt have anything on the offensive side.
I'd give Rust a shot with Sid, why not.

Not sure if he's played a lot of LW, so maybe tough with Hornqvist there, but of he's still around when Kuntiz is back, I'd like to see Kunitz - Crosby - Rust for a game just to see what happens.

I've been on that for 2 months now, wanting him dealt for picks, or when we had the plethora of injuries, maybe 2 bottom 6 wingers. Something to dump that salary.

Every GM has a bad signing, if this is JR's I'm ok with it.
At least Spaling can play defense.

I dont think its important to dump that salary. Spaling is still a responcible bottom six player with a big body. He will help in the playoffs. I dont mind having a defense first player on the team its just unfortunate that he doesnt have any offensive upside. The contract isnt THAT terrible that we need to dump it.

Yeah.... If our worst forward contract is $2.2 mil, it's not the end of the world. But I want him moved before next year. He's a 4th liner, but you could dress an entire useful fourth line for his cap hit.

Well, what contracts do have that are "bad" right now... Skuds, Spaling, and I'll say it, POSSIBLY Dupuis coming off the blood thinners. I just don't like seeing 2 long term injuries with not that many games between... has me shaky on him.

Skuds I think is just non moveable, but hes doing a lot more good than harm. Spaling is just a nonfactor for the good and bad. I'd rather get a pick and keep up Rust or someone, or get another cannonball like Klinkhammer.

Just watched the new 'in the room'. Dupes will be the rallying point for the playoffs, if they can make it far enough he will be able to return and win the cup with them.

Agreed. The lack of respect for that guy is amazing based off the year he is having. I guess folks are waiting for the playoffs to weigh in on him.

He has been fantastic this year. I can remember only a small handful of stoppable goals. Also, he's really cut down on the puck-handling mistakes.

He should be in the conversation for the Vezina IMO.

Also, he's the Team MVP IMO.

I love what I have seen with Rust and Farnham so far. Question is can they keep up that high level of play over the long haul?

We've seen plenty of guys flash for 5-10 games then disappear.

But, so far they have shown me more than Sill, Ebbett, and Megna ever have.

I agree. As much as we want megna to be great, he doesn't have it at this time. Maybe in a few more years he can be a regular third liner or so. Rust and Farnham are taking full advantage of their opportunity

I don't know what to say about this team right now other than if we get a healthy Kunitz back soon and make a trade for a left wing like Tlusty, I am very confident in our ability to compete with anyone in this league.
Despres and Scuderi had their best game of the season as a true tandem. Letang was freaking unreal.

Rust is a machine for finding shooting lanes.

Overall I am very happy with the win. I wanted to see them take it to a team that kind of stinks, and they did. I have no problem with a 1-0 OT win like that. That goalie was freakish in his saves. beauty

And to Fleury... Congrats! one more shutout and he ties the franchise record!!!!!

I like the way the team plays even when they are missing key players. They adjust and deal with it and remain motivated to find what the other team will give. It's a sign of cohesive team and a coaching staff with the knowledge and leadership to help the team get where it needs to be.

Last day to make a trade for a while... Not sure how nh4442 is going to survive these next 9 days with no potential of a trade.

Roster freeze in effect from midnight tonight until 12/28.

3 points up on Tampa (w/2 games in hand) in the east and 3 points behind the Ducks for the overall lead (w/3 games in hand), GMJR better get his ass moving.

Last night was about as expected from Harrington. Don't really notice him much (in a good way) but definitely very sharp, crisp passes coming out of the zone. I think that's what will really differentiate him from someone like Scuderi.

I actually think this work cap wise. Your moving almost 12M in salary, and only bringing back about 10M.

Gonna start calling your Palmer......

To me, he is a true defensive gem who is very solid positionaly and rarely is going to make a mistake. Very smart player who probably has more offensive upside than he is given credit for. When he played for Canada he was their best player defensively in Junior championships.

HEY come on these are somewhat realistic... peg needs a top 6 d (despres), they are losing a grit guy in kane so we send back downie and then the pick could be switched to a 2nd bc of who kane is

Edm needs a center and they love picks well sutter is going to get you either perron+ or yak + so why not combine them and throw in a pick

Scuds needs off the books and he is from ny. I don't see nyi nyr or even njd trading for him. He will.actually help buf out on the blue line amd a 5th seems fair

Martin is going to walk and sign in minny that's a given so why not get picks for him

Well, with the injuries to Maatta and Ehrhoff, he may be getting extended time with the Pens, which is a good thing.

Hopefully the Penguins are letting the guys that are injured to take their sweet time to get healthy. No need to rush anybody back into the lineup in December or January, especially when your in good position point wise. Let the kids play.
