Why trade for a player when you can just claim him on waivers?
- MJL

The idea I suppose is to exile an expensive player for an inexpensive player...because it's other team's job to play nice with the Flyers and dig them out of the jam they put themselves in.

Man, it's ridiculous on here some days

What's ridiculous is the name calling because someone doesn't like what someone posted that is legitimately trying to offer his opinion, followed by the ignore comments as if anyone actually cares about that. It's a hockey forum, where discussions take place.

I think it goes both ways. Person (A) can't just speak to Person (B) as if they have more of a right to be here. You can't just say "Shut up and like it" because that's not how this works. There are going to be differences of opinions and it's up to you as well as the other person you are talking to how to deal with it.

because they have to recall him someone else could claim him
there's no point in claiming a player on the way down
also waives shows if there's interest in a player

Yeah, their internal cap could prove troubling. But at the same time, you haven't made the playoffs since you returned to Winnipeg, and you're in the 8th spot now at the 40 percent mark of the season -- don't you have to eat a little cash at the TDL for someone, if you're still there?
- AllInForFlyers

As an org, they definitely have to live with a lower tolerance for risk to ensure survival. Would adding $4.5M to an already crowded blue line this year and next be worth the chance at the gate receipts from maybe three PO games? If they miss out they could be in real trouble.

Because you need to move salary out in order to do so
- AllInForFlyers

I think at this point, Nashville is more likely to want to deal with Stalberg than take on Lecavalier and an extra year.

Spare everybody the sob stories -- we're all here every day, and we all see what happens here

All that "clique" BS and passive-aggressive garbage that gets spewed doesn't fool anyone

People can read. They see what this crap is -- a guy asked an opinion about whether someone would trade Lecavalier for Stalberg.

So no, don't float that "oh, it's a hockey discussion and people can offer their opinions" when the poster in question starts moaning about "oh, it's a dream scenario that doesn't exist" -- so those of us who were offering opinions about a player he likes should stop

Save the crap you're selling for someone who can't read

I would -- Stalberg plays a position that the Flyers have a need, and even if he doesn't play it well, he's a better fit for the Flyers than Lecavalier, who can't play the wing

The Flyers aren't getting off clean for Lecavalier's deal -- they're going to have to do something that isn't going to be palatable
