now that is funny.. WOw..

Not sure which part is funny?

You meant the Dougie for Hall?

I think you guys would be a lot better with an actual Top pairing Dman than a Top LW, would you not?

Just saying good wingers are MUCH easier to come by that young Top pairing Dmen

Huh Ek as it occurred to you that MacTavish might wait until the off season to deal Hall when more options (teams) will be available by then.

The Oilers DON'T HAVE to trade Hall.

Bruins are in no position to trade for all. They have some pieces but their core is starting to age and tey are tight to the cap.

If they did try to acquire Hall it would like cost something like Hamilton, Lucic and a 1st? Des this make sense fr the Bruins?

Except there is no guarantee that Hamilton will continue to look like a top pairing d-man on Edmonton. Playing with Boston's defence is huge for Dougie's development.

If Dougie's the central piece of a larger trade then sure it is possible but the pieces have to bee worth creating a huge hole on Edmonton's top line. If you are thinking Hamilton straight up or with a 1st then your way off.

They need to do something! The pieces they require are big, and they arent going to get anything of value without giving up something of value in return.

Good value but I can't imagine Boston giving up that much for an upgrade on the wing. And they would hang up fast when Edmonton comes back saying they need one of their top centers over Lucic. Lol.

Yeah but people said the same thing about Kessel. Imagine if we moved Kessel when things didn't turn out the way we thought they would last year. We would have a huge hole on the top line and a bunch of solid depth guys that we ended up signing in FA anyway.

To move Hall you have to be offered a package that screams 'shut up and take my money'.

Oh for sure...you (dont) trade Hall for "depth". But where the Leafs only really had Kessel, the Oilers have Eberle, Nuge, Yak, Draisaitl...

Dougie looked pretty good with Chara out and his supporting cast was a revolving door of Krug, Seidenberg, Miller, Trotman, Bartkoski, McQuaid and Morrow.. So that says something there.

Never start your rebuild around a winger. Hall, Nash, kovalchuk, ovechkin. They will put up great numbers but wingers are just not that valuable to a hockey teams success.
- joshs

Truth. Wingers have limited utility on a team.

True they can survive without Hall if they get a top line defenceman, starting goalie, and 1st/2nd line center both under 28 with term left on their contract. (Or top end prospects in those positions that will likely develop into that player). Otherwise what's the point? Picks are risky, prospects rarely turn out the way you think they will and players that are capped at 2nd & 3rd line players can be found in FA much easier than a top player like Hall.

I think it screams backfire. I mean look at the return for Seguin, it was amazing and Boston got great pieces but it still looks like they lost the deal hard.

Kadri,
Phaneuf,
Gauthier and a
2015 1st rd pick

Nothing against Hamilton but I wouldn't move Hall straight up for him. Also he better be the clear number 2 with those guys behind him. Hahaha

Oiler nation should just take i mean buy the team from Katz and run it themselves via a Green Bay Packers model. they could not do any worse then what has happened since the start of dismantlement in 1988!

then again

throwing oiler jerseys on home ice maybe oiler fans not ready just yet...

With the exception of Phaneuf im fine with this. If you replaced Phaneuf with another D whos name doesn't rhyme with Miley I would do it.

Sorry , what I meant is that the Oilers don't have to trade him this season right away (who's forcing them), but maybe in the off season when the assets get more interesting.

Like Boston is going to trade Lucic or Hamilton for someone who can't stay healthy through the course of season and has accomplished diddly poop.

You guys (frank)ed this all up not drafting Seguin. The Hall as Bruin ship sailed years ago.
