Your right lets fire Capuano and the coaching staff. I'm not saying they don't need to improve on it, obviously they're last in the league. Most of those bad PK stats came from the beginning of the year when both goalies weren't playing well. They're also missing their #1 PK guy Grabner. Obviously as fans you look at all those weaknesses when they're losing but, their wining so try to be a little positive. - dack1972
They've given up 26 power play goals, with 8 being in December. How is the PK getting better?
I'm very happy with the way they are playing , but if the PK isn't fixed, they won't go far in the post-season. |

There's no doubt the special teams including PP need to improve it might catch up to them. They're missing top PK player in Grabner but, that's definitely not the only problem with the PK. I don't think they have the confidence while on the PK and it shows because they just sit back....not aggressive enough. The point i was making is overall Cappy has done a good job coaching this year and deserves some praise. He has made adjustment through out the season, he deserves some credit No coach is perfect and maybe it is his fault the PK sucks. I have no doubt it will improve as the season moves along. - dack1972
They have had a bottom of the barrel PK since capuano has been coach. It has nothing to do with being negative its discussing the status of the team which theres nothing wrong with. Everyone is happy about the teams success but when Brain Strait gets 23 minutes in a game hes -5 in and the other team only scored five goals thats something to discuss. If you cant handle that maybe you should find a more "positive" place to discuss hockey. The majority of this thread likes to discuss reality even if its not rainbows and butterflies.
If you dont want to talk about our PK or anything else "negative" thats your prerogative just like its mine to discuss it. |

I didn't say the pp is getting better it still looks bad. The Pk was bad on every kill at the beginning of the year. Since then they have shown some flashes of good PK They did improve it for a while when from last to 24 or 25th in the league. I think they are back to last. BTW you can't look at how many goals they give up it's the percentage. They could have had 30 more pk to kill in Dec. I didn't look at the stats, maybe they do back up your point. |

Why are we all fighting in here? this is the best season we have had in years.
Yes JAck is still pretty brainless to me and Johnson is not the best but whatever we are still winning in the end and that is what makes a difference here.
On another note is Tavares ok?? After last game I did not hear an update on him |

Totally agree with this. "special teams" is so important. They need to fix the penalty kill quick. I suggest skating a little and getting in to the shooting lanes. that might help?? |

Once again an overreaction. I actually haven’t suggested Capuano be fired for a while now. I’m not a fan of his, but the team is playing well aside from the PK. I love it when I point out a concern and get told to be positive. Do you really think I watch the games and don’t enjoy them? Is it impossible for you to understand that I can be very happy with the team and still critical of some things I’d like to see done better?
I refuse to stick my head in the sand and say “they’re winning, everything is great” when the pk is dead last and our backup goaltender is worst in the league. Those are two major concerns and as a discussion board, those are two things I’m going to talk about. If you don’t like it, don’t fvcking reply to it.

As opposed to Halak who played for the Canadians? - Cptmjl
in his defense, halak hasnt been on the Canadians since the 09-10 season; not exactly like he just crossed over the border... |

That's what I just don't comprehend, this is a thread to share opinions whether right or wrong, but some just get frantic if it gets debated on... Silly ppl....
Here are the common denominators....
Cappy stink - despite team winning
PK - sucks
PP - needs improvement
1st line needs to get going
Strait sucks
Bailey is mostly invisible
Johnson needs to correct himself as back-up G
KO - is not a 1st line W - this is mine only ......
RangerDanger - is a closet isles fan
SimpleAss - doesn't watch isle games
I could keep going but I'll stop here......
Oh an Dan does a good job on blogs, just not enough of them.... |

Yeah I know but the logic was still off in that post. Johnson has honestly looked worse than any goaltender that played for us last season. He's been that bad. Snow is really going to have to start thinking of better options if he does tonight what we have all grown accustomed to from him. Suck.
I was completely behind Capuano starting Halak in that back to back. Even went as far as saying it was a smart move. |

Unless major injuries to few players at once, I can almost say, "this team is making PO's"
Like I said in off-season, if isles acquired 2 legit NHL Dman, team is PO worthy.... |

I totally agree with this post. Johnson has not been the same for a while and seems to have a hard time going post to post. He looks like do I dare say another Rick Dipietro |

My originally post was addressing someone that was bashing Cappy. All i was saying is give Cappy some credit where its due. Then people started commenting on the PK and Cappy sucks as coach because of the PK. The point i was making is yes the PK sucks but, Cappy has done a good job overall in coaching.I'm confident they will improve the PK just like they have in the other areas of the game. Just relax dude, talk about overreacting |

Do you guys think the islanders throw their hat in the ring for a winger for the JT line? or continue to ride with the depth they have right now.
Gerard,
I think Garth Snow has shown he's all in in terms of plugging holes this season. Still a bit early to say who might be available other than Chris Stewart although I am intrigued by the notion that the Blues might be open to moving T.J. Oshie. Have to admit Oshie would look pretty good in an Islander jersey although the Bruins might have something to say about that. - Scott Burnside
Thoughts on that?
I think Oshie would cost way to much to get, plus idk why the Blues would want to move him. |

I thought oshie was a right winger? He'd be an excellent player to pick up though |
