After watching this game tonight I believe Carolina will be last overall this season.

Edmonton is still in the running.

In happier news, I love how the Islanders are playing and defence is solid with Boychuk and Hamonic back.

I wasn't saying let's go trade the farm for the guy. I just think a vet like one of those guys would be a great fit for JT and KO. Both guys are battle tested, know the grind and can give much needed support going forward. Even a Jagr. Man has an infinite drive for the sport and always looking for more.
I don't think Tlusty would be a bad option. Honestly didn't even know Tanguay was still playing.

- brodydog29

Tlusty has some talent, but he's hardly a veteran. He's like 26. And then there was that business of the nude photos..........not sure he's the mature locker room presence that would benefit the team.

You and i both. If tavares really gets going and the team stays healthy its going to be a good second half.

If that's what it is, I think most wanted Foligno if Columbus falls out by the trade deadline.

A rental makes sense, but weren't you looking for a veteran presence?

Agreed. But I need to point out that it's been an amazing first half! Despite the injuries and JT not playing his best! I would modify what you wrote to:

If Tavares really gets going and the team stays healthy its going to be a SUPERB second half.

Im not sold on your guys defense or goaltending. You're an improved team, exciting and entertaining brand of hockey, and one of the top 4-5 teams in the East, but im not sure you're built to advance deep in the playoffs just yet. Don't get your hopes up.

Judging by your handle, I'll say it nicely...Thanks, you're not telling us anything we don't already know. Goalie & D are significantly improved from last year(tho Chad Johnson has had bad starts last 4 games) and we have what is really a rookie line that's outscoring the top line and other players chipping in when needed, which makes us dangerous as we are still considered up & coming.

No one would have predicted the Rangers last year making it to Finals game 6, so you never know but it's interesting to see your concern in stopping by with a condescending remark & a reminder of where we are...which is right in the rearview mirror of the best teams in the league.

Honk, honk.

whatever the best fit is....doesn't have to be a 15 year vet... just someone who can help this team..the locker room is good right now... doesn't have to be an Iginla per say

Why is this even a topic of conversation?

He's signed to a three year deal and a terrible one at that.

Iginla = cup curse....

If he signed as a FA no issue but he chose to sign a bad contract in COL and that's there problem now......

Edit: Wouldn't mind if isles took a flyer on Briere at deadline..... Don't think it will cost anything significant

He's terrible. And where in the world is he going to fit into this lineup? Don't say the fourth line because they have been playing pretty damn well lately.

In the PO's no he's not, plus he's light years better than Bailey and can replace him in line-up where ever. This is not a proposal to keep Brieire past this year, its for PO's only....

Briere is another veteran PO player who I think the isles can acquire w/o giving up anything, if he is signed past this year, then I'll pass.
