You can't spend 60 minutes in the offensive zone though. Every game has ebbs and flows, and the Isles spent quite a bit more time on the attack than defending. My only complaint with the way they played is that against a goalie like Price you have to get more traffic in front. He left some rebounds; there was no one there to push it home.

Scoring goals was the issue last night, but I do agree with Capt...gotta stop more pucks than 18 out of 21. That's good for an .857 save percentage, which sadly is pretty damn close to the norm for our backup. If you can believe it, his .867 for the season is worse than Poulin last year, who was playing behind a much weaker team and a much shakier D. Haven't gotten their money's worth from Johnson so far.

Exactly!

Why is Anders Lee the only Islander to consistently position himself in front of the crease? You have to subject yourself to some punishment when you do so, but there have to be other forwards who will make the sacrifice.

Exactly. I see a lot of scared players out there afraid of injury. this is hockey you have to expect to get your bumps and bruises. They also need to play the body more and not the puck. Montreal is a fast team and when you take the body it slows them down

Hello ladies.....

Didn't get a chance to watch last nights game but was Johnson that bad?
The score was 3-1 but not sure how he'd fare in a low scoring game????

That has been the problem since the isles don't have Moulson or Vanek on team....

Wait, they have some PWF wannabe in KO that should be doing that but prefers to dippsy-doodle around w/puck......

they should get someone on the first line willing to get dirty. If they did that line will be scoring at will

This is the guy that I hope Snow acquires at the deadline.

Well, that and a quality backup.

Yes I remember MArk Parrish back in the day one of my favorite players. He used to just stand right in front of the goalie and tap in the loose pucks that is why he scored 30 goals a year. He would be all bruised and banged up but got results. I remember asking him and he told me well if that is how I can help the team then so be it. He also said that is how you win games. Moulson did that at times too. Lee and Nelson do that on every night basis.

Isles should have more than enough guys with good size to play a tougher game. I'm not talking about fighting. Should not just fall to Lee to crash the net.

It is easy you have the players who can do that. Bailey will not get dirty he plays so skimmish afraid to get hit or touched. Lee, Nelson, Clutterbuck, Guys like this can be those type of players

disagree.

the only players who i dont see going in front of the net are KO, neilsen, bailey and sometimes JT.

everyone else plays a tough game.

last nights game was JUST last nights game, it shouldnt discount the other 33 games played.

Oh I am not discounting that I really thought they played real well.

I am just saying they need more of this on a regular basis.

Also tough games means more then just hitting. I do notice at times they stick check more than hit the body

aside from the fact he hasnt played in a week+ (which is why i left him off), you are right in that previously hes been passive, but he came out this year and started hitting and backchecking (he also did this during the playoffs and he was in beast mode)

having said that, my line of lee_jt_grabner would kill it

Yup. They've gotten a whole lot of goals this season where you had to watch the replay two or three times to figure out who in front ultimately tipped the puck in. Just not so much last night.

Problem with last nights game, Price saw every shot. They weren't allowing the isles any kind of speed or odd man rush, which meant they needed to put people in front of price and shoot and they didn't do that, at all.

They did in the first period and didn't in the other two. Montreal did a good job keeping them to the outside and the shooting lanes clear but the Islanders didn't put up much of a fight in the last two frames. They didn't counter with anything which is one of Capuano's many gaffes as a coach.

The Habs got their asses chewed out in btn periods and came out forechecking and clogged the neutral zone. Capuano as more often than not didn't have an answer.

Always has been a "stick to the plan" type. Rarely does adjustments get done in game. Hell, he doesn't allow players to play unless they've had substantial enough team meetings!
