Iginla = cup curse....

If he signed as a FA no issue but he chose to sign a bad contract in COL and that's there problem now......

Edit: Wouldn't mind if isles took a flyer on Briere at deadline..... Don't think it will cost anything significant

In the PO's no he's not, plus he's light years better than Bailey and can replace him in line-up where ever. This is not a proposal to keep Brieire past this year, its for PO's only....

Briere is another veteran PO player who I think the isles can acquire w/o giving up anything, if he is signed past this year, then I'll pass.

no thanks. I'm not adding a small, old, broken down shadow of what he used to be and pinning my playoff hopes on him. If I'm adding anything it's another vet defenseman, or a winger that can play in the top six (not named taylor hall, unless the price drops to boxing day sale levels)

Im not sold on your guys defense or goaltending. You're an improved team, exciting and entertaining brand of hockey, and one of the top 4-5 teams in the East, but im not sure you're built to advance deep in the playoffs just yet. Don't get your hopes up.

1st off, I've been stating that the isles should get another low end Dman between now till deadline.
2nd unless the isles trade major pieces don't expect any major player, so with the team playing well, a tweak of experience could help at either F or D

His last run in the playoffs he was less than a point-every-other game player. I don't know what you'd trade for him.

Help what though? The forward lines have been fine, save for maybe Johnny's line and I have no doubt that they'll figure it out, and the defense has been fantastic with Hammer and JB55 in the lineup. In fact Boychuk and Leddy own some of the elite possession numbers in the entire league. Why tweak what isn't broken?

If he has an expiring contract a late rd pick..... I would think COL just wants to get rid of him. As u know by trade deadline very rare that any team acquires any impact player unless giving up anything worthy (which isles shouldn't)

On D, I don't know if Viz would remain healthy and don't want to go into PO's w/Donovan or Strait in line-up for PO's. So rather have insurance, remember, still a lot of hockey left and anything could happen injury wise (hope not).

Right, I'm totally in agreement with acquiring (whether it is via trade or UFA) a depth defenseman that isn't Brian Strait or Matt Donovan for the playoffs, should we continue down the road that we're on.

But I don't think that a 7th defenseman or 13th forward is going to "improve" the team. A safety net is what I think we're in agreement about but I took you mentioning "tweaking" the team as suggestion that we should get some depth guy and plug him into the lineup.

I never even mentioned Iginla.............but pretty soon someone is going to accuse me of recommending we trade for him.

A depth guy would only help if injuries occur, but a teams 5/6 Dman that could be available is a better option to have in line-up than the names of Donovan/Strait. So we agreed on that, finally u seen the light....

At F, u may think differently but Bailey & Grabner are replaceable and rather have someone w/PO experience (if obtainable) than those 2 for PO's. So to me (I think) Briere is a better option than Bailey for PO's (not reg season)

I don't think Colorado is going to trade a guy they just signed for 3 years in the first year of his contract. Doan is going to retire a Coyote.

Also, bleh on both anyway.

I never disagreed with adding a depth defenseman later on in the season. I also don't think teams are going to trade roster (5/6) defenseman for peanuts.

We aren't trading a roster player. We don't have that many draft picks this year (two 3rd's[assuming we don't trade Boychuk to an Eastern conf. team], a 4th, a 6th, and 2 7th's)

I think Harrison (CAR) & Brewer (TB) went for peanuts????
I will go on a limb and say that I might prefer any of those 2 over Dono/Strait...

Hopefully it's just a maintenance day and if he isn't playing tomorrow, he then gets a full week off.

im not a big fan of bringing in another forward -- vet or not. this team is scoring plenty. id love to see JT get new linemates, i dont think KO/revolving door is helping him play to his potential.

if something is being given up, i would like to see them bring in another bottom pairing dman. its not necessary but it certainly would be useful.

I hear you. Hopefully like you said it's just a rest. Play Johnson against Buffalo if they feel they have too.
