13th pick and another year of Coburn, here we come! - hereticpride
Lol.. I just looked up all of the 13th overall picks over the past decade and thought there would be a bunch of studs in that mix... Best 13th overall pick over the past 10 years (so far IMO)... was Dustin Brown.. next closest Drew Stafford
14th overall would be better:
Seabrook
Dubnyk
Grabner
Shattenkirk
Kulikov
Jaden Schwartz
J Oleksiak
Girgensons
Wennberg

he continues to progress.....he also learned to maybe skip running at big Buff the next time.....the guy is simply to big and sturdy. - landros 2
I still believe that Raffl has been laid out more times in his short time as a Flyer than any other Flyer ever. Dude is constantly getting flattened. Hops right back up every time as well! |

You can't really worry bout stuff like that at this point in the season. I think Hextall is astute enough to realize that this team is, at best, a bubble team. With that being said, even if they are in playoff contention at the deadline, I think he will be open to moving a dman or 2 for picks if a contender makes a good enough offer.

Enjoying the wins and hoping against hope for a playoff berth, but also realistic enough to know the odds are heavily against them. The reality always was that they were a bubble playoff team. They're beating the teams they should beat, and having trouble with the ones that are better. - Jsaquella

It would be nice to have B Schenn get back to contributing. I guess it is no coincidence that he has dropped off since his movement from first line.
However, I do love that line of Laughton, Schenn, Simmonds. IMO a much better trio than 14 24 18 - 3flyerkids
Yes, Laughton has played well but he obviously cant get the puck to Schenn like G and Jake can. I would like to see Schenn back on the 1st line next season if we get a 2nd line LW to take his spot. |

Im not worried.. Flyers draft really well in the first round, suck in the 2nd.
We will have a good first round pick and dont have a second so it is the best of both worlds.
I was just pointing out that the 13th pick over the past decade hasnt panned out as well as the 14th.. Picking well is not always directly proportional to your draft spot. |

I dont mind if they draft in the 15-20 range.... We almost always draft a pretty damn good player in the 1st rd while the teams picking 1-10 get a lot of busts. |

The three players on that line are all similar players, that like to get in on the forecheck, crash the net, and play a north south game. None of those players have a strong ability to carry the puck, draw defenders, and make passing plays to set the other up. This team really needs another playmaker, especially if they're going to keep Giroux and Voracek together. |

I always say the hardest picks to project are the 5-12 range...
I am confident they will get a good player this year as well..
Ideally it would be a forward. |

I think it has mostly been about better execution. I finally was able to watch the Leafs game. One of their best games in terms of skating. Hopefully this team is getting in a better mental state, and continues to skate and play with intensity. - MJL
The leafs let the flyers skate on them. The flyers rarely dictate. But if teams want to give them room they'll take advantage of it. I don't think it was a matter of the flyers bringing a different intensity |

Zep was good Sunday. He held his own nicely. With this said I hope Ray Emery starts tonight. Emery is 6-4-1 and deserves an opportunity to stabilize things in net. I get the excitement of the next new rookie but I don't think it's fair to Emery to make him a back up to the third string or potentially turn him into a third string himself. There was a lot of concern of when Mason would get back in net when Emery went on a streak in late October. Now some are ready to set cast Emery aside, which I'm not so sure is fair. |

They suck at keeping their 2nd rounders. I thought it was bad, but it's actually ridiculous - seven 2nd round picks in the last 16 drafts.
1999 no 2nd round pick
2000 no 2nd round pick
2001 no 2nd round pick
2002 no 2nd round pick
2003 no 2nd round pick

I certainly don't think the Leafs played very welll or clogged up the neutral zone well, but there is no such thing as a team letting another team skate on them. A large part of the reason why the score was 7-4, was because of the way the Flyers skated. If the Flyers don't show up to play, and skate, they don't win the game. It's that simple, and it had everything to do with the intensity they played with. Intensity and the mental side of the game has been one of the biggest issues with this team. |

My christmas wish list
1) a #1 dman
2) a first line LW (with no disrespect to Raffl)
3) a new home for 18/40. they have both played better but they just make way too much for their contributions
4) McDavid or Eichel. sorry had to do it
5) a stanley cup in 2016

I'm pretty happy with the last 3. Hopefully Hexy can acquire a 2nd at the deadline. I'm pretty sure a contender looking for a stay at home guy would happily part with a 2nd for Grossmann and a 5th.

3 in one draft and that is what they.....
Hopefully the last 3 will continue to progress. 6 of 16 is horrible but at least they have drafted in the last 3. I know they don't have this year's but lets hope having 3 in the last 4 shows the routine trading of 2nd round picks is over. |

I thought Saturday Night showed everyone in the Hockey World how good the Flyers really are. None of the goals scored were gimme goals. |
