Didn't they move up to specifically take Marshall or am I miss remembering? |

Flyers take Johnny Boychuk in 2002, Backes in 2003, Krejci in 2004, Stastny or Letang in 2005, trade the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 2nd rounders for the 2008 1st overall pick and select Stamkos.

You are correct.
Acquired from the Washington Capitals for a 3rd round pick in 2007 and a 2nd round pick in 2008 on June 23, 2007. Washington acquired along with a 2nd round pick in the 2008 from the San Jose Sharks for a 1st round pick in 2007 on June 22, 2007 (see also pick 28). San Jose acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Nils Ekman and Patrick Ehelechner on July 20, 2006. Pittsburgh acquired with Niklas Nordgren and Krystofer Kolanos from the Carolina Hurricanes for Mark Recchi on March 3, 2006 |

Marshall was ranked ahead of Subban by a decent margin in the prospect ratings so can't really fault them for that.

To my knowledge, the Flyers had Trevor Lewis and Bob Sanguinetti pegged over Giroux. Both were selected beforehand so they were forced to settle for G. Thank god. If The Rags selected anyone other than Sanguinetti... |

Disagree completely. Not sure how it is rare to question their intensity or the mental aspect of the game. That's two of the bigest issues that have plagued this team all season. They've been playing with hesitiation in their game due to a lack of confidence, which leads to thinking the game instead of just reacting and playing the game with confidence. That leads to slow, cautious play, and a lack of intensity. How the Flyers intensity waivers from game to game is easy to spot.
According to your premise the Flyers have no control on how they play, it's all about how the opponent plays them. That is obviously false. - MJL
Lets hope the Flyers finally bring that "intensity" and "confidence" whenever they play the rangers or lightning next. Those teams always tend to catch the Flyers on off nights |

That last game under a minute left and its 2-2. I still have visions of Amac inexplicably falling down behind the net, turning the puck over, leads to a typical Flyer Clusterfck scramble in their zone. LSchenn gets caught in no mans land between two Wild attackers and game over. Ugh. Flyers outplayed Minny the first two periods but Keumper kept them in the game, he was very good that game. Suter played nearly 30 minutes of flawless shut down D. I think Brodin was missing that night.
Jake and G will get a big dose of Suter again tonight.
Someone else may need to step up for them. |

Tonight will be a tough one. While Minnesota has gotten lousy goaltending, they are a fantastic skating and possession club and they don't give up a ton of chances. Also playing their 4th game in 6 nights along with travel doesn't help.

It's kind of ironic because Minnesota has been outplaying teams much of the year, but losing. |

Yeah, Suter is a horse and Minny will have the matchup advantage of last change. The Flyers will need good goaltending and an all out 18 man effort if they are going to come away with 2 points tonight.

If you look back at a lot of past NHL drafts, the odds of getting a good player in the 2nd round aren't that great. Lots of very good players have been selected in the 2nd round, so it is possible. Also, obviously the odds are a lot higher getting a good player in the 2nd round if you actually have a 2nd round pick, then not having a 2nd round pick. The Flyers have supplemented the lack of 2nd round picks with quality undrafted UFA signings, but still I'd like to see the Flyers pluck some gems in later rounds. Hopefully Gostisbehere and possibly Hagg can start that in the right direction. |

So you want them sitting in the box all night?
I'm all for physical play, creating a physical presence, and defending yourself... but we don't need the old Bullies "rock-em-sock-em-robots" mentality floating around out there. |
