Could u imagine what we'd look like up front with Hall and one of the top2 picks?
That would be pretty awesome - jdfitz77
Yea, but we're going to have a 9% chance at the top pick instead of 100%. I truly believe Hall is in play. Murray has to get him if he can. Aside from 28 or 55, I move anyone in any package. |

I don't have to apologize to anyone for being a Sabres fan or for enjoying wins. It's not my job to figure out how we are supposed to acquire elite talent. They have a whole team of people to figure that out.
The Edmonton Oilers. We just can't compete with that level of suck. We would have to tank at such an obvious level to securely be below them, that it would be far beneath the good people that own and run our team. |

EDM would be better off with a cut out in net. They don't want to improve at goal. McDavid might not amount to anything on that circus show sadly. - Fortress19
They've gotta want to do something in net...
How long till Hall, Eberle, etc start to demand a trade?
This is gotta be getting pretty old for them by now
If they could get a decent goalie & defenseman, they could be a decent team... Or at least start making some strides

Yea, hopefully the players start to complain publicallly and demand trades. I don't remember a team ever being this bad. |

This team is really starting to compete in each and every game now.
With a few critical additions, I believe we will be good enough to win. |

Can't say I disagree, thru won't lose 30 in a row, they're going to win games (both teams really) but at the current rate they're still on track to draft a great player |

They have to hope that if they land where they are now, the hockey gods throw them a bone and they win the lottery. Outside of that I don't believe Tim Murray is incompetent. I think that even outside of getting Mceichel, his determination and Pegula's solid finances will give us a team to be proud of. A team that can compete for a cup. |

Agreed, Id still be upset but as you said I imagine they considered this scenario bring plausible before the season started. I don't think it will come to that but I have to believe they're ready for it |

If you're the Oilers...
Would u consider trading down to #3 to draft Hanifin?
Obv defense is a huge need for them
And although it would only be a spot or 2, they still prob get a nice return in addition to the 3rd pick

Not me.
Never.
Glutton for punishment many nights, I suppose, but tonight was my reward for sticking with these lovable losers.
I want McEichel, but it's so much fun when the team wins. |

Just watched this. From 30 to 36 seconds Prout is just toying with him thinking the fight was over. Prout had ample opportunity to knock Lucic TFO! He did the right thing and Lucic took advantage. Scumbag Bruins prevail again. |

Hahaha how is it sooo much fun when they win, I don't get it? There's not more than 5 players who will even be here next year and they're going back and forth from 27th to 26th. Never mind the fact that these aren't our sabres, they're talentless plug ins. |

They need another player down the middle pretty badly as well though. Any other draft maybe but its "mceichel" so it may not be there play. Remember this is the organization who's owner stepped in and told them not to trade down in the yakupov draft.
I also think they're at the point where they don't want to be acquiring players for 3 years from now. They have assets in the top 6, my guess is they swing for the fences on a veteran guy. They need to get the fans back into it as well, the kids won't cut it like it used to 5 years ago. |

I don't think any team is trading away McDavid by choice, even Edmonton. |

Wait, I thought their were no good trade offers in the yakupov draft and that is why Edmonton didn't trade down?!!? |

Owner stepped in and said no.
Edit misread, but apparently they had 2 reasonable offers. Of course, "reasonable" can be interpreted differently. |

what I find to be bs is that their gm still works for them. But I guess the plane is to rebuild the oilers dynasty and bring back the glory days. |

Um, because I like it when my (frank)ing team wins.
Not a hard concept to grasp.
Anyway, Ennis, Moulson, Risto, Zads, Gorges, Myers, Deslauriers, Gionta, one of the goalies, Grigs (that's 10 off the top of my head) will be here. |

I think it's bullpoop of the oilers get the #1 pick. Yes I know it should goto the worst team (excluding lottery), but they've picked @ 10, 1, 1, 1, 8... and are now looking at #1 again with a generational player attached. Talk about not building a team around these guys. |

nhl should step in.
Place point values for top 10 picks.
1st pick=5 points
2nd pick=4points
3rd pick=3 points
4-7=2 points
8-10=1 point
Anything after 10 recieves 0 point value bcz that team is trying to make the playoffs.
In a period of 3 consecutive years no team can exceed 10 points. (trading does not affect the position you would select). If a team recieved 2 consecutive #1 overall picks the following season they will draft no better than 11th overall.
Right now there is no incentive to atleast try and maybe end up 5th last instead of last place. This system is not perfect but atleast it would promote perennial bottom feeders to atleast try to win a few games and make it harder for gms to dynasty build with all top 10 picks. |
