Read more, post less.

My comment was we miss Myers, the post I made after that said regardless of if you think Myers is good, or just ok you can't have two 19 year olds lead this blue line. They aren't ready, it could kill the confidence they currently have.

Sure, we aren't playing for anything, but I want to see 55 and 51 progress, not be forced into roles they aren't ready for

Almost funny reply from someone who has about 14 posts today.
By the way, I didn't get my Seasons Greetings back from you.
I am sure the intention was there.

And I'm sure your intention was to understand what I was posting as opposed to just pointing out the "hysterics" of saying we miss Tyler Myers

People put too much weight into offensive numbers for defensemen. Surprise! the Sabres arent an offensive team. Lowest numbers in the league. Myers isnt going put up 50 points as a defenseman like he did his rookie year because we dont have the forwards for him to do that in front of them.

Myers is top 20 in the league if you average TOI/60, QOC, and GA/60 ranks. Hes playing like a #1. Let other fans believe otherwise because they are checking stats on NHL.com and think hes brutal because hes not putting up Giordano numbers. Fine by me.

SBroads, whats the point to keep arguing the same thing over and over and over every day regarding Myers? Just wasting internet ink.

Sabres are starting to see how much they are missing Myers and it's only 3 games without him.

That says a lot about how thin your defense is considering how garbage myers is.

I wanted to talk about Reinhart and reply to sbroads comment about his play yesterday but figured the pissing match with the isle and rag trollers would run wild for about 10 pages. Now we have the Myers buzz nonsense. Amazing.

I think he's implying that myers' absence on the blueline doesn't have the effect you mentioned previously.
- rangerdanger94

It doesn't.

I have been a Sabres fan since their inception and this is what I think of Myers.

So talk Reinhart!

I thought he looked exceptional last night. A lot of Canadians dont understand why he's centering the top line because he cant skate as well as them, but its pretty evident why Hockey Canada put him there. He does everything right.

The 1st goal was all through his work. He saw his D regrouping in the neutral zone, I thought he was going off for a change, nope, he picks up speed (what speed? lol) and loops through the neutral zone giving his D a target, one touches to Duclair, then drives the net and has the ice veins to take it (see: a terrible pass) off his skates and throw a no look back hand across to Fabbri for a lay in... beautiful play throughout. But who did all the Canadians give credit to? Dukes and Fabbri.

Reinhart is going to be something special. He doesnt need top end speed. His IQ more than makes up for it.

He's really something special.

As far as McDavid, the way he takes the angles on defenders and can accelerate is something special to watch.

I felt like he almost wanted to take a backseat to the Reinhart line last night. I also didn't think Lazar did much either

The discussion on the WJCs and Reinhart would be nice. I have yet to watch a game even though I am interested.

Sure it was. Without Myers our defense has to force the younger guys up the lineup, and they are struggling. Doesnt take a rocket scientist to watch the game and see that Myers playing the tough minutes allows Ristodorov to take sheltered minutes and develop properly.

You were making the point of how the team has been pretty bad (losing the last 4) without him in the lineup anymore (coming off winning 7 of 10?).... it also has to do with injuries/illnesses to Moulson (who as evidenced over the same stretch is just as central a piece to the GEM line as the other two), Mitchell and Gionta (who along with Flynn became a playable 2nd line).

The gap on Eichel to McDavid is small.

We need to finish last

I just figured my comment would get lost in troll dust.

Anyway, I agree 100% with your assessment. I thought he was exceptional at both ends, created chances and was very heady with the puck. His hockey smarts is simply off the charts. The play he made on the first goal is amazing.

If we don't get Eichel or McDavid (always wanted Eichel from the get go), I'm comfortable with a top 2 center group of Reinhart and Grigorenko. Fill in the wings with a few trades and we'll be fine.

Like I said before, it must take a rocket scientist.

I remember people wanting us to draft Frederik Gauthier in 2013 with our late 1st rounder, and boy am I glad we didnt get that chance.... He was easily the weakest on the team, and that 4th line played so much better when he wasnt on it.

But hey, hockey canada has to take players from the Q too!

Hanifin could give us a top 4 to rival Nashvilles.

I have this feeling we are going to make a big trade this offseason as well

I was thinking the same about Gauthier.

Ritchie moves a little bit better than I thought he did, but also gets knocked down easier than I thought.

Morrissey looks like a Keith clone IMO

I really believe that Reinhart and Girgensons will be our future top 6 C's if we miss out on McEichel, and I honestly have no problem with that. Grigorenko can play a 3C OZ sheltered line with some heavy 2 way wingers (think Fasching and Bailey/Baptiste).

If we land Hanifin or Marner to what we have, we'll be fine. And we can still find a Getzlaf, Perry, Giroux from some of the later 1st round picks.

It will be interesting to see if we have the 3rd pick. Do we take the obvious in Hanifin or go for a forward, Strome, Zacha or Marner. I don't have any problem picking Hanifin and if we did we'd have a stud D for 10 years. If the draft isn't what Murray envisions, I can see a trade at the draft.

Agreed. I always savored the idea of having one of the two. Guess I still want McDavid more since I got a puck autographed by him as a gift
