Thanks Bill. I guess I will have to give up on our PK. It is completely nonfunctional, and they just sit back, and wait for the impending goal to happen. I am beginning to question coach's choice for who is on the PK. He keeps Coby on the first team, and he has had some unusual suspects that he plugs into the forward group; ie. Rinaldo. I understand you may have to tinker with the parts that are not working, however some of those parts have no business on the PK.
Last night, the forwards seemed to fall back into their old bad habits of waiting for the puck, watching the D struggle, failing to dump the puck into the O zone, and not going to the net. That is why I hate those long breaks, because the team seems to get complacent, or forgets how to play, or gets just plain lazy again. Take your pick.
I understand that this is not the team that Hexy may want to put on the ice, but the guys have to at least put forth some effort. Shoot, the Sabers have a lower caliber team, but they are finding ways to win. The Flames have tough guys on their team, and look at how they play. Well, I can see V-check getting frustrated with the team again. He, among a few others, actually shows up to play every night. If he doesn't go to the all-star game, that would be a shame. Now, if he can just wrap presents, that might get him a vote or two...hahaha. - OrangeAndBlack1
The Predators are a good team, that forechecks well. The Flyers didn't just sit back, they didn't execute against a better team. Huge difference.
Also, pretty dumb to blame the poor PK on Rinaldo, since he wasn't even dressed last night.

how did they go from a top PK team year after year to .... THIS.
7th best PK last season
5th best the year before...
do they have the same PK coach or somebody else? - -davies-
Berube. Also, i loved Lappy as a player, but do not understand how're was elevated to the nhl coaching staff without any coaching experience.
Will we see cote as a flyers head coach next year. |

You keep referring to Rinaldo as the antichrist. That is a bit much. I think more along the lines of coat hanger abortion, or waste of oxygen. |

They don't have Kimmo. He was their best Dman and PK player |

Kimmo is huge, definitely. Also others guys not playing nearly as well. Read's play has been bad. Adding Umberger has not been a positive over Adam Hall. Coburn, Grossmann, Schenn & MacDonald have all been guilty of spotty play |

I failed to mention Adam Hall,he was a solid face off man on the PK. And you are right.. Read has not been the same player. Umberger well..... Let's just say he has earned the " zombie" title |

Their best PK guy has been Giroux. That he's not only been needed to play a lot on the PK, but is also the best guy at it, speaks volumes about how poor the guys on it have played. |

I still think it'd be worth kicking the tires on Oshie.
I didn't realize turning 28 just a few days ago is too old to include prospects in the deal. |

I don't think Matt Read could play any worse if he tried. Even if he was still good defensively and not giving the team the secondary scoring they are use to from him, I would be ok with him. But my God, he craps on the ice everytime he is out there. He has a decent chance in the 2nd period last night with Umberger in front of the net and he falls down and only manages a lame shot from his stomach. It is just sad to see where he is now and how far and how quickly he has fallen from where he was. |

Matt Read has really struggled too.
I think Mason's save% on the PK last year was pretty high if I'm not mistaken. They may have been due for a little regression.
Still, they shouldn't be as bad as they are. They don't seem to take away anything from the opposing teams. Teams pass through the box at will, get several looks in tight without harassment, find easy shooting lanes and Flyer defenseman seem to screen their own goalie more than the opponent does. |

It's not, but I'd rather use a guy like Alt than a guy like Aube Kubel. Also, don't think that highly of Oshie.not a bad player by any stretch, but would rather do something where they lose contracts. |

Roy couldn't help many teams at this point. He's not even getting shots, let alone producing anything. |

Even if we had Kimmo this season, what could we really expect from a 39 defensman that has played warrior-like his entire career. What is sad is that a 39 year old Timonen is better than the rest of our entire defensive core. We can call out players all we want but Homlgren is the reason this team is as bad as it. We can't bench the bad players because we have noone to replace them with and we can't trade the even worse players because of the ridiculous contracts they have. As long as the Flyers organization continuely give jobs to former players that have no business being in the posistions they are in, the Flyers will just fail year after year. |

Fraser's not a bad goal scorer... might be worth an add, especially given the org's depth at wing. |

Remember when Derek Roy was good?
The hell happened to him? It's like his career has been a parallel to Mike Richards in a weird way. |

True, he's been an effective scorer at the AHL level. Could see NJ grabbing him. The Devils forward depth is ugh |

Sort of, more surprising for Roy, because Richards is much more physical |

Nothing rots in Edmonton. Stuff freezes and remains frozen. That team is a disgrace to the league. They've been crap for over a decade and not just bad but tanky/bottom of the league bad consistently. There should be a limit to how many consecutive 1st overalls or top 3 picks a team can have in a row.
