Not playing your first round draft QB who started 2-2 in place of a journeymen is counterproductive. I understood while they pulled him, but once Orton hit the same wall they should have worked EJ back in. - Buffalo-Sabres
I totally agree... If for no other reason then to confirm their own fears that he is a bust.... |

And unfortunately we will never know.
This is my take. We should have known for sure.
There is a rift between Whaley and Marrone about certain players. EJ is one of them. Whaley wants EJ to play. - sbroads24
We've been out of playoffs for 15 years. There is NO WAY IN HELL we should have such an obvious rift between critical members of this team. IMO, that means they should all go, NOW. Brandon included. |

Pretty good D men that will be out there next year we can grab but, Myers size, skill and speed will be hard to find. As is a young scoring winger like Hall. Hard spot to be in if you ask me. - SABRES 89
They will? If that's the case, then why would Edmonton trade Hall at all? Why not just wait and get one of these D you say will be available? |

This.
We weren't 0-4 or even 1-3.
I would have loved to see what Orton would have done with JJ Watt on him all game. That game IMO would have been worse - sbroads24

Pegula doesn't have the balls to fire both GM and Coach, where have we seen this before? - SABRES 89
Except that time the coach, Gm, vice president and next coach got fired. |

Not what they are looking for, a Myers or a Yandle is what they are looking for. you gotta give to get. |

Early returns show that Pegula will give the person in charge every opportunity to succeed under him. In other words, he's usually pretty patient. I expect both Marrone and Whaley to be back here next year, for better or for worse. |

If the Bills let Marrone go the next coach needs to be a "real" NFL coach and ot just a name. |

As do I. He bought the team mid-season and I don't think he could get a good succession plan in place in time. I don't think hasty decisions would serve us very good. |

I guess moving Ennis is my way of keeping Myers here. I would think if we trade for Hall it will involve Myers or Ennis imo. - mhp
I'm gonna try to compare two fairly recent trades to estimate the value of Hall and what he could be had for.
Rick Nash (1st line winger), con. 3rd, Steve Delisle (AHL D)
for
Brandon Dubinsky (2nd line 2 way center), Artem Anisimov (3rd line center), Tim Erixon (depth project D) and a first-round draft pick in 2013 (late)
Tyler Seguin (1st line C), Rich Peverley (2nd-3rd line C), Ryan Button(depth D)
for
Loui Eriksson (top 6 F), Joe Morrow (Depth D), Reilly Smith (Top 6-9 W), Matt Fraser (Depth F).
For Rick Nash, you were looking at a 28 year old franchise winger for a pair of centers and a late 1st. Nash plays a lot like Hall. In this trade, you're looking at Hall for the Isles 1st, Grigorenko/Hodgson and Larsson and maybe Ruhwedel. This scenario is a little less likely because Hall is highly likely to be viewed in the league to be more valuable than Nash.
For Tyler Seguin, this is probably a much closer scenario, even though Dallas got lucky and absolutely pantsed Boston a-la Darcy. Dalls gets Seguin, a top line franchise center for what really is Reilly Smith (Armia or Baptiste) and Matt Fraser (a lesser Foligno). I can't fathom the Sabres giving up so little to get so much, and even if we added to that like a first, we're robbing Boston blind. How the hell did Darcy not get this trade. Let's all take a moment and hate him for it. While you're riding the hate train, try to think about Forsberg for Erat.

Would normally agree but in the Sabres case immediate action was warranted.... But not taken.. |

Totally agree. The writing was on that wall. It had been 13 years or whatever at that time. The Bills people haven't been around as long with the exception of Brandon.
edit: What bothers me about the Bills is you have Whaley and Marrone haven't been there long enough to have a rift. Usually the young GM and Coach are on the same page, even if its a bad one. |

the bills last 3 first rd picks were EJ and watkins
rumor now is the bills have not contacted spillers agent so he will be walking
they really need to find a way to get a first rd pick this offseason

So the guys out there aren't good enough for Edmonton, but they're supposed to be good enough to play here?
I don't see the point of making that move then. The D that's available isn't anywhere close to what we could get out of Myers, so why would they want to make that sacrifice? Don't get me wrong, I like Hall. I just think it's harder to come by a guy like Myers than it is a guy like Hall. Especially given that Hall has been on a bad team since he got there with 2 other 1st overall picks. If he can't get the job done there with what he's been given to work with, why would he be any better here?
And I know you're not a huge fan of trading Myers in the first place. Which is why I'm bit baffled by your opinion on this right now. |
