Absolutely. But if you send them The Schenn Bros, they can fit the contract. They'd have to move a defenseman out to fit him on the roster as well as the cap. - Jsaquella
If Yandle was signed past next year, I might be more willing to add him. With what it would take to acquire him, and the raise he'll most likely be looking for (around 7, maybe?), I'm not sure it'd be worth it for a potential short-term 'fix'.

Exactly. I like Yandle-and Byfuglien-but the cost to acquire them, at least right now, is too high.
If they were legitimate, all situations, high minute guys that did it all and did it all well, it's a different story. Both have warts, and while they'd be better than what the Flyers have on hand, neither solves the real problems completely. |

Just another reason I think Hexy lets it ride with the current set of D, at least for the time being. We're just an injury or two away from getting MDZ and Carlo back into the lineup - unless Berube sees fit to start 'resting' some of his stalwart mainstays - and the kids are still developing with the Phantoms.
If the progress of recent picks is deserving of playing time next year, MDZ, Carlo, and Schultz are gone anyway. |

That's where the issue I have with Berube comes in, and also why I see no need to spend assets on Yandle. Why isn't MDZ playing? He's an offensively gifted guy who can drive play. But it gets back to Berube giving more rope to the Grossmanns of the world. |

There is no one player out there that the Flyers can acquire in trade that is going to make this team into a contender. So if they can't become a contender, why do it? So they are a little less awful? |

I think we're all very aware of your issue(s) with Berube.
A good number of us would even agree. It's about being stymied.

Or if they add a guy who will be here and be a part of getting better.
If they could land a guy like John Carlson, I'd be all for it. He's young enough to be a huge part of the future. If they can get a guy like Yandle for less than the assumed asking price? Fine, he's young enough to be here when they turn it around.

Will be interesting to see how they respond to Berube's reaming at yesterdays practice - BiggE
i was more interested in bill's take on said verbal outburst. sadly, he did not address this in the blob. |

I would like to see MDZ and CC back in the line up as of yesterday.
They need someone capable of getting the puck through to the net from the blue line.
Also can't stand who he rolls out on the 2nd PP unit.
They are not only bad but playing boring hockey right now.
The Nashville game was a real snoozer. |

I doubt it's anything. The way it was first reported, by Panaccio, it seemed that Giroux was being singled out. But Chief was shredding everyone. |

This is why I don't want a change right now. No coach is going to come in and turn this roster into a contender. But I do feel strongly that Berube, despite being dealt a bad hand, is not getting everything he could be getting out of it, either.
I'd give Berube another month or so. If they're still muddling about in 20th place and under .500, I'd bring up Murray as interim, and then do a full on search in spring/summer - Jsaquella
how many times can we go to the murray well? at this point why not leave him as a permanent assistant, and when it's time to fire the head, he just has to slide one step over on the bench.
seriously, why would murray want to uproot his situation in the lehigh valley for this? again? |

i'm interested in his view about the potential effect this type of reaction has on a team like the flyers...not anything that was actually said by the coach. |

Go figure.. Good ol' Pinotch putting his spin on this to drum up controversy..
Why do they let him near the locker room again?? And why is he still an "insider"? Who does he know?.... I wish Clarke woulda clocked him years ago when he was asking for it... |

At this point, you'd think a shakeup would be the next step, right? Try something different...but Berube goes to the same well, game after game.
Maybe this lashing out at practice is his new thing, trying to piss everyone off. Or maybe it's not so new; I don't attend the practices.

Once the team is basically eliminated, I want to see guys like MDZ play. I have no faith Berube will do so, so I want somebody else calling the shots.
Murray is competent, he's available and he's not a pro who will understand what the job is and could remain an asset for the organization if he's not going to be the full time replacement.
I don't want to hire a new "permanent" guy right now. Wait until spring, see who is out there. The current crop has a few interesting guys in it, but I wouldn't be in a huge rush to hire any of them. |

Why is Washington going to trade Carlson? Yandle has 1 year left on his contract after this season. He will need to be resigned the same offseason as Voracek, couturier, b.schenn, Raffl and Coburn. How much do you think the cap is going up? |

I'm not a big fan of the proposed 'Murray solution'. Why disrupt what he's best at - developing youth? Not that the Phantoms are this great force in the 'A', but still...

Not saying they are, using him as an example of a guy that would be attractive. |
