bylsma is a very likable guy, with pros and cons of his own like any coach. however, i really do not think he is the guy you guys would want. - stayinthefnnet
As opposed to Coach Face Punch! He's the answer! |

Yep. I think so. VLC has shown some signs of life lately. |

Neither are NHL players, but VDV is better than Rinaldo. Rinaldo is a total waste of time. - PLindbergh31
I'm not really a fan of either, so I agree.. |

No coincidence that the 4th line has been much better without Rinaldo. Berube has him on a leash. He was more effective when playing like a loose cannon, at least then he laid some big momentum hits. |

Meh, it's probably more like the twitching due to nerves before the still. Shouldn't be mistaken as life. |

He's never really been effective. One season out of four he managed to draw more penalties than he took. The rest of the time he's been a low skilled guy running around and hitting people and taking a ton of penalties. |

Hilarious. A show revolving around a professional troll, and fake arguments. It's amazing that people watch that poop...

It would be laughable if the pendulum swung yet again. Defense first to whatever the (frank) Stevens was, to offense heavy under Lava and back to strict d-first under Berube.
Merry go round.

One thing I notice in the Nashville game was they had no physicality to their game. i hope it was because of the layoff. I know the fourth line has played better but i still think i would rather have White over Vandevelde as this team seemed to look even softer. Just from what I saw. That could all change tonight |

At this point I don't root at all, for or against. They're just bad and they're buried.
Look at Columbus, they won 7 in a row and barely pulled ahead of the Flyers let alone back into the playoff race. Now they're behind us again. If the Flyers tear off 10 in a row they might get to within 4 points of a wild card spot. What are the chances this team is going to win 10 in a row?
If Washington goes .500 the rest of the way our boys would need to go 27-19-1 to close out the year just to tie them for 8th. Forget it. |

It's all of the (frank)ing 3 points games. Once you get behind at this point in the season, it's really an uphill climb. |

The flyers had what points in 8 of their last 9 before nashville and basically made up zero ground. |

It's definitely a flawed point system. A team that plays conservatively all game, gets to the shootout and wins a skills competition earns the same amount of points as a team that dominates and wins 5-0.

Yeah, the climb up the standings from where we are is daunting. If they were playing well I could see it but game to game you never know what you're getting. |

True, but Stolarz & Alt aren't top shelf guys. Neither are Straka, Leier or Cousins. They have some good depth guys there, and stability is a good thing, but at the same time there's a finite window on MDZ & Colaiacovo. - Jsaquella
What is the definition of top shelf guy?
Because nothing Stolarz has done suggest he WON'T be a top shelf guy. 2nd round pick. Was great for the Knights in the Regular and Post season, has been great for the Phantoms when he's played. Raw skills and Physical tools? Well the man is 6 foot 6, 220 pounds, and that doesn't in any way shape or form effect his movement, the guy is quick. Are we talking future about potential?
Last 2 goalies i remember being considered can't miss prospects were Markstrom and Jack Campbell? maybe im missing someone else... their stats don't even compare to Stolarz in his first pro season. Now there's a long way to go in the AHL season but i don't forsee a huge drop in Stollie's numbers.
If Hagg is considered a top shelf guy, than so does Stolarz.
I agree though that the rest aren't, at best with Alt you've got 6/7 maybe 5th dman, Straka and Leier and Cousins all basically 3rd line players.
edit: now obviously goalie is a very different position and all about timing really. If you're stuck behind a Tuuka Rask you won't really get a chance to show those things of for a while and could be traded for pieces i.e. Markstrom but talent wise i think Stolarz definitely deserves to thought of as a top shelf guy. |
