Good choice on your team, they are the best in the NHL |

He has been passed over by others. I would be shocked if he is signed to a new deal. - J35Bacher
I think there was an article awhile back (maybe Bill's?) including Lauridson, saying there is a high probability he's headed over seas when his contract is up. |

lol they started winning when i changed it... time to change back i guess |

They died. He's not likely in their future plans. The AHL games I have seen, he's looked very meh. Gets beat outside a lot and doesn't do enough to compensate for it. - Jsaquella
And he takes some godawful penalties. Just straight up undisciplined stuff. Instead of being clean physical, he would tend to just get sloppy a lot of times... unless he's changed his style, as I haven't been able to make any Phantoms games this season... but I kinda doubt he changed. |

See, dunno if he can get moved either. Term = death. - Tomahawk
Grossman absolutely can be moved. He has more of playoff pedigree and frankly is flat out better than Luke. Not sure you'll get more than a 3rd though |

Very possible. I was thinking that applied more to a guy like MacDonald or even Read. - Jsaquella
I just know I sure as hell wouldn't want the Flyers trading for a depth players on contracts like those with the CAD projected to keep dropping deep into Q3 2015. |

After Vinny, MacDonald is the contract I want to move the most. He's very average and his contract is awful value. - Jsaquella
I also don't get this whole " we can't move all our vets because we need some for the prospects when they come up" thing some people keep putting out there. Even if they move Coburn, Grossmann and Macdonald as an exampl you still have Schenn and Streit and maybe even Del Zotto. There are some UFA's that might inerest this year.

If Douglas Murray got 2 2nds then Grossmann has some value. Murray is a glazier on the ice. Grossmann moves even better then him. |

No, but other teams might. It gives them a year of somewhat affordable control, and the cap is still expected to rise next season. It's when we go past 2016 where that impact is dangerous |

One step closer to Pavel Zacha or Mitch Marner - ob18
There's one really heavy ping pong ball with a Flyers logo on it. Right now Gary's tossing it in the air and giggling into his cell phone to Bill Daly. |

It's not about his value as a PO piece... it's about not adding a contract that may push a team over the cap in an uncertain economic climate.
Expiring Hejda / Michalek / Salvador / Hannan / Carkner / Weaver / Allen / Gleason / Schultz >>> Grossmann 2-years left.
The cap could still drop next year, and growth will probably be slower moving forward. |

I understand but if the team likes Grossmann better then those players listed and think this is the year for them to win the cup then they will make the deal and then deal with the contracts later.
No team will say no to winning a cup because of what might happen two years from now. |

Grossmann's a 5-7 guy on a Cup team... not really the kind of player you throw caution to the wind for, nor the kind of player that's gonna really push a team over the top, right?
The marginal diff between him and a GM's 'next best guy' just isn't big enough to elicit the risk. |

We would kill our GM if he went with the slightly lesser version just because we thought "maybe" two years from now their could be cap problems.
There are ways to get cap compliant when the time comes. But if it costs them a cup I would be very pissed because we wanted to try and prepare for 2 years from now. I am not saying Grossmann is the answer to a cup but if some GM thinks he solidfies the defense for a team going on a cup run then they would make the deal. |
