Now we are going to talk about Timonen the next couple of years just like Pronger was talked about the past couple of years. Timonen is 39 years old and would not have been playing 25 minutes a game like in years past. Yes he would have been better than anyone else on the ice for the Flyers but the fact is that the Flyers would have been only marginally better with him in the line-up. You have got to know that your team is in trouble if they miss a d-man that is close to getting AARP letters in the mail. |

C'mon man. Dont give me that. Read has been dreadful all season. - GOA88
I'll I'm saying is that Matt Read and Wayne Simmonds have produced the same amount of even strength points. Simmonds faces lesser competition and gets more favorable zone starts as well. These are facts. How you interpret them is your choice. |

Flyers that any team would want:
Giroux, Voracek, Simmonds, Couturier
Flyers that a team who is trying to fill a specific need would want:
Mason, Streit
Flyers that some teams would want:
B. Schenn, Raffl, Laughton, Coburn
Flyers that a contender may want:
Grossmann, Schultz
Flyers a few teams may want:
L. Schenn, AMac, MDZ, Emery, Read, Bellemare
Flyers who no one wants:
Vinny, Umberger, Rinaldo, CC, VDV - BiggE
Laughton and B Schenn would be welcome on ANY team in the NHL....both are still pup's...rest of list looks pretty good.

I think a good number of teams would love to buy low on Read and I don't think Hextall will do something like that. He knows better. - NickTheKid87
Its a tough spot. Cause I never really thought Read had much pure skill to begin with and he has dropped off. He will be 29 next year and he seems to be getting slower already. Sell now or wait another year and hope he turns it around. Tough call, IMO. |

Actually I think Morin has played really well.....he moves between the 6-7th d spot and is on the first PK unit....his gaff last night was atrocious but that happens....he got speed wheeling behind the net, but lost the puck when he looked up to make the pass....it happens...honestly I think he's trying to do too much some times to show he belongs in the top 4.....when he plays a simple game down low he has really, really looked good. His skating has improved and I really think he projects to be a bloody good D man in the NHL.
From what I've seen so far if another D man gets hurt their would be no drop off in play if Morin got those minutes.

He's not a meathead, tho... good defensively, does the little things pretty well.
As for your last sentence... - Tomahawk
Yeah I wouldn't expect a meathead to go in the top 10. But when there are higher skilled guys on the board, I'd take them in that spot vs. selecting a guy with a big question mark who could ultimately just be a 3rd line winger who kills penalties. Not that that's a bad thing but in the top 10, meh. |

No point in selling now if you're going to get pennies. He's of more value on the team than what would come in for him in return in that case. |

Pretty much. Though with Read's ability to play in all situations, a contender with an injury or 2 at RW would likely give up a 2nd for him still.

Yeah. Probably. I would like to see Couts with Simmonds and Schenn again. Laughton can play with Umberger and Read. |

Lots of problems and a lot of holes on this team.
One or even two good drafts won't fix all of them.
This is going to involve a lot of patience.
Some positives. Couturier has continued to show the ability to get the puck to the slot. If he had guys on his wing who could finish he could become a 50-60 assist per season center I think.
G on faceoffs this year. He has really gotten great at the dot.
That's about it.
Loved Streit's assist. Hated how he lost the battle to Vermette on the bad rebound goal. Those two plays highlight the good and bad parts of him game in a nutshell.
Glad to see Mase back but he was not at the top of his game last night. - Marc D
Good thing they just won 40 years ago, and have an 82 year old owner! Two things that lead to lots of patience! |

Me too. I was just defending Simmonds. He's having a nice year - Just5
He is having an ok year. I just expect a little more from him. If he isn't scoring I don't really notice him too much. Guys like Beleksy, Kane, Lucic, Perry, Burrows seem to still bring other elements when not scoring. I just want a little more from him. |

Only problem is waiting out the PF development curve... it took a good 3-4 NHL seasons before guys like Ladd and Doan started showing their scoring potential.
Skill guys could be more turnkey. |

I think you could get a 2nd from a playoff team needing depth. Or maybe in a bigger deal you add him to Coburn and get back multiple assets. |

Agreed, science states that we deserve McDavid. Religion justifies it and art professes it.
Fact. Sermon. Poem. McDavid to the Flyers. |
