Also, PK isn't playing like a number 1. He blows as well.
- TimBits

Cmon. Pk is playing well considering he is really the only star on D.

I do agree that he D needs a lot of work. I almost wonder if it's worth getting petry from the Oil to come play on second pair. Other than that there doesn't seem like much is out there. Luke Schenn might be available?

The Oilers have an AHL defense. The Habs have two quality defensemen (one that should be a number 3 at this point in his career), the rest are absolute garbage. Beaulieu will probably be decent some day.

It's nice to see you're not 100% negative...wouldn't want people to think you're trying to steal ASP's schtick.

He's not playing like a number 1, therefore he blows? Well that certainly escalated quickly.

Speaking of this, I'm becoming increasingly convinced that Hockeyy Insiderr is actually Marty.

«I'm sure Canadiens fans would love Bergevin to pull the trigger on bringing another scoring forward in, but his best course of action between now and the trade deadline is to find an upgrade on his blue line»

Do they have any cap space? And if Emelin is not playing in the top 4 with his salary, might as well trade him and play Tinordi.

Also, trading Gorges doesn't look good right now.

it's amazing. all of this PK criticism is based mainly on the lack of flash in his game right now. every other metric suggests he's playing well. he's a positive possession player on a terrible possession team, despite drawing tough assignments more often than not. he's scoring at a 50-point pace. he's +9 on a team that doesn't have a high goal differential.

but he hasn't done a spin or rama in 2 weeks so (frank) him.

I'm sorry, what?

Gorges was one of the weakest link on this blueline. Every time he was on the ice, there was simply no way the habs could clear the zone. He was also terrible in the playoffs.

While I dont think the habs defense overall is anything to write home about i think this statement is overexaggerating.

And Bealieu is already decent posting a 54% FF with a fairly tough deployment and as you say a garbage defensive partner.

would have been better off trading Emelin instead but one of them had to go.

i would prefer him with TOm Gilbert on the third pairing than Emelin. but that's mainly because i think Emelin is kind of crap.

No, PK isn't playing well. He has been average at best all season.

I'm not sure Petry is a big improvement. Decent offensively who has major brain cramps in his zone.

Pk played better with him. And that trade was made so Emelin could play on the left. Did not really work out.

Bergevin getting rid of that 4 year contract is the smartest decision he ever made.

Their D is poorly built. It's old, slow and ineffective.

Subban, Markov and Beaulieu are pieces to build around. Mind you, by the time Beaulieu is ready, Markov will be dead and buried.

No.

PK played better in the playoffs because the stakes were higher. Gorges had nothing to do with it.

Because someone says something that you do not agree with, that means they are employing someone elses schtick?

You can't disagree that the defense has been bad.

Then Bergevin needs to get rid of Emelin. Tinordi is stuck in the AHL meanwhile.
