And a random thought from yesterday's convo on Bills QB situation.

What do you think of trading EJ straight up for Gino Smith? Maybe a change of scenery would do both some good? If Marone stays, I can't see EJ getting another solid chance from him.

- IonSabres

If EJ wouldn't ge ta shot from him, how would Gino Smith deserve a shot? I think he's a bigger mess than EJ, personally.

Overflow? We have 3 rinks next to each other.
- cabin

IDK, the seating capacity might be small for some games in either of those 2 Harbor Center rinks...of course keep them there if possible, just saying Rochester 60 minutes away with a 10k capacity arena is a great option.

As far as I know, Buffalo hasn't placed a bid for it this time around. Pittsburgh and Tampa sound like the frontrunners.
- buffalofan19

Actually, I guess they haven't placed on yet, but intend to.

There are just as many seats at the main HarborCenter rink as there are at Niagara U when it was here.

HarborCenter, being so close to the arena, is going to give them an advantage. They can move all the "marquee" matchups to FNC, regardless of pool.

While I agree Gino has looked like a mess...the same can be said of EJ. Honestly, I don't see a dramatic difference that I would dismiss it out of hand with thinking first.
It will be interesting to see if EJ has lost a bit of the conservative attitude he had coming in this year (I know, Hacket and Marone limited him).

- SABRES 89

Rams supposedly want to keep him . Salary cap is going to be in the $200 million range next year. Maybe they can live with $13 million.

Not a chance, Smith is worse no way. That move makes no sense for the Bills

I am sure he will rather than come here. It is nice to play indoors. He already has more money than he will ever need.

Still, being out for a month is tough getting back into game shape, no matter how much conditioning you do. All I'm saying is if McDavid were playing actual games in that month stretch, you might at least see the gap decrease. Eichel has been playing better, but he hasn't exactly set the tournament on fire either.
- buffalofan19

McDavid IMO is still the clear cut better prospect.

He is Sidney Crosby in almost every way. Elite vision, elite hockey IQ, and maybe even a better skater which is unreal.

Eichel is great in his own right. But McDavid is it

If he is not shown the door, there is no hope for next season

Looking at the schedule, I see an 8-8 season right now for 2015

Who's available though? Outside of Mariota, who they wouldn't have been able to pick even if they don't trade that pick away for Watkins, there's nobody great in the draft either.

Agreed. Though I also think that Eichel is going to look better earlier, just simply given that his competition is a bit stiffer (i.e. playing with men versus boys).

Still, if the Sabres don't come away with one of these two guys, this season is a major disappointment.

I still think it's up in the air on that one.

Personally, I think McDavid will be an elite player the moment he steps on the ice. Eichel could be the same

It will also have a TON to do with what team drafts them

This is the point I have been making in defense of the Watkins trade.

It's rare you find your franchise QB hanging around in the middle of round 1. It's usually top 3-5, or someone that falls to the 2nd or 3rd like Dalton/Wilson
