It will be interesting to see of Jameis Winston can stay out of trouble. |

Agreed. Though I also think that Eichel is going to look better earlier, just simply given that his competition is a bit stiffer (i.e. playing with men versus boys).
Still, if the Sabres don't come away with one of these two guys, this season is a major disappointment. - buffalofan19
I agree...want one of those two as well.
That said, Hanifin is a solid consolation prize at 3, which also could be used as trade bait to get a high-end top 3 forward from a stocked offensive team I.e. TBL. |

I love their TE, Nick O'Leary, if the Bills grab him in the second or third rd I will be very happy |

For all the "well known" need the Bills have on the O-line, that site has them taking a Guard in the 5th round and that's all for o-line draftees. |

If you draft Hanifin, you are still left without a player to build a team around, and you are still left with subpar talent up front. If the defensive prospects in the system play to even 75-80% as well as we hope they do, you can win with that group. You still may need to bolster it in order to become a championship team, but it can be a force to be reckoned with. This forward group is nowhere close, even considering Reinhart. |

Listening to the announcers during this tournament, you would think that we already had a guy like one of the two of them. The Sabres prospect pool has been getting a lot of love during the broadcasts. |

Drouin sounds like someone that needs an attitude adjustment. Not that it can't be done, but the Sabres don't exactly have the reputation for having the ability to set people straight, not yet anyway. |

When we traded for Fasching I didn't realize we were getting a guy who would be among the best on the US squad. |

They are, and they should. However, like I've said a few times, they have a lot of great pieces to build with. They just need that piece to build around. |

"Stock hasn't been higher: Days after the Bills completed their first winning season since 2004, Marrone's stock is as high as it's been since he took over the team. But who knows how he will be viewed a year from now. The Bills' quarterback situation is murkier than ever, casting doubt on the team's ability to get over the hump and into the playoffs next season. If Marrone stays and the Bills regress in 2015, it's debatable if any head coaching opportunities will open for him in 2016. " |

I don't disagree, but in perspective...they do have a solid 2nd line in MGE...and a bounty full of 3rd and 4th liners, and a very good young D.
With Reinhart presumptively as your #1 C, they aren't that far away... Should be able to trade of an elite winger with all the chips they have. |

I think they'll be fine either way to be honest. While I would LOVE either McDavid or Eichel, I don't think our future success hinges on getting one of them either. |

when the kings drafted him, he was one of the most improved players the following season
that does not translate into anything more then a fringe third line player but his upside f course is now second line |

By the time this team is in position to contend, I'm not sure Ennis or Moulson will be here, or at least their roles will be diminished. The problem with Ennis is that he needs to be in the middle. If the Sabres get the guys to get them into a spot to contend, he'll be the 3rd best center on the team. |

I do, however, think it will ultimately the difference between being very good and great. Does it have to necessarily be McDavid or Eichel? No. Does it have to be someone worth building a franchise around? Yes. Does that player exist in this system? No. |

yes and no
pp is brutal
pk is brutal
if enroth is not the short term answer, the goalie is up in the air and nothing close to what is needed
2 legit top line elite wingers
1 top pair d man that can run the pp
a goalie
a special teams coach
I am wondering if Nolan gets moved to a different position after this season |

flip side to that, follow a formula of building around your centers and top 4 d men
reinhart, girgens, ennis follow that formula
there are 4 quality young d men in the system
if those players produce

Follow that formula with the above named, and I think you have the makings of a very good team. I don't think you have the makings of a great one. If you're going go through the fiasco that the team has over the past few years, emerging from it anything less than great is unacceptable in my eyes. |
