Sooo..Myers is a bottom pairing guy on one of the worst teams in hockey??
- stashu
I think the implication is more that Myers won't be here when all is said and done, and that he'll be traded for a top line winger. |

I don't include Myers in the "young" group. I realize he's not an old man, but he is in comparison to many of the others. When I read young or say young, it's with the assumption that the player doesn't already have 5 seasons with the team. |

Of our last 11 W's dating back to the St. Denzel's Day Massacre over Toronto, 8 of them have been against backup goaltenders. We have another backup AHL goalie tonight (albeit a better one, but still)...BUF is 8-2 against backups, and 3-6 against starters during that stretch.
Other teams GM's and coaches are countering our Panzer with nuclear bombs |

I get that he's older, and if he was on a shorter contract I could see leaving him off, but with the age d-men play til, he's still quite young.
Just found it interesting that you'd limit the "building around" to only the young guys, especially since you don't know what you have to build around.
And this isn't an argument as "Myers is a #1!!!!", so here's hoping that fight doesn't break out here. |

When this team was "good", they couldn't beat backups. Now that they suck, they're doing so....ugh |

Wow, Jhonas is a "beast" when facing shots in the 20-30 feet range compared to Miller.
.921 vs .881
Miller has him beat within 10 feet though, .838 vs .750
Fun stuff |

Last few games Miller has been pounded with shots and is all of the sudden on fire again.
I really think he has to be under duress to be on the top of his game. Enroth might be similar in that regard |

There are actually a lot of goaltenders that need to be "overworked" in order to be at their best. |

With Lindy Ruff's style, and the overall lack of talent the last few years when he was here, that has been Miller's career. Wonder if he is just accustomed to it |

Miller's at his best when hes aggressive and can trust his defense. When the defense takes hits due to injuries (which I believe is/was Vancouver's problem) and you get guys not normally in the lineup, Miller starts to overplay things and not trust his guys. Causes him to give up uncharacteristic goals (aka "softies").
Enroth has been lucky to be giving up 3 goals a game and getting by with W's lately. As I mentioned earlier, you can thank other coaches for playing their backups against us. |

If this team had average special teams play, they would be a fringe playoff team
how much of this lack of production on talent, and how much is it on coaching?
I say this because they have 3 competent guys up front for pk
a few players that can kind of put the puck in the net up front
gorges for the pk
myers for the pp
not a myers rant either so do not go there |
