By the time this team is in position to contend, I'm not sure Ennis or Moulson will be here, or at least their roles will be diminished. The problem with Ennis is that he needs to be in the middle. If the Sabres get the guys to get them into a spot to contend, he'll be the 3rd best center on the team.

Isn't he playing wing right now? There goes that common misconception........

And on the other thing you said,

Ennis, Girgs, Reinhart, Armia, Grigs, 2 mid-late 1st round picks, plus the other prospects does not in any way shape or form, leave us with "subpar" talent up front.

Agreed, I said from day 1 he'd have no problem going back to wing.

If those two mid-late first round picks don't generate a player worth building a franchise around, then no, it's nowhere near a championship caliber forward group, even if they all play as well as they are projected to, which rarely happens in the first place.

Ennis' best play as a Sabre has been up the middle, and it really isn't even close.

Not really.

He had 20g 29a in 2010-2011 as a winger.

He's on pace for roughly that same amount this season as a winger.

He had one big hot streak as a center, other than that he was really no different.

Couple games ago he did say he likes playing the wing. and the option to help out at center. Was a question regarding Girgs playing center on his line.

If this happens then for sure they're good enough, especially with our D that would be adding Hannifin/Kylington (if not then add Strome and it doesn't matter either way).

I think most players would love to have less responsibility on the ice. Especially a relatively undersized player in Ennis, who can't really hang in front of the net with the likes of Chara, et al.

it's working for him. We know he can play center. so that is a good option to have .

The big question mark with Ennis on the wing was that he wasn't strong or big enough to control play along the boards. It just so happens that he can be one of the better players on the team in that area.

Most successful teams are putting two players capable of playing center on lines. If one is tossed, then the other can come in and have a better chance to win the face off. Especially with the whole focus on possession.

I think that's what makes him incredibly effective. He can use his size, or lack thereof, to get out of tight situations along the boards with the puck.

Word on the street is St. Louis coaching and management are growing concerned over the lack luster play as of late. Some phone calls from this past off season and early on in the season may have to be re-visited if they don't right the ship, and soon.

Just an FYI for all, once again, happy new years to all.
