Glad Giroux proved last night that he's lost his dynamic ability and is only piggybacking on Voracek to put up points. Maybe one day his skill will return...maybe. - jmatchett383
Yah..He is riding what Voracek is doing this season for sure.
He is sort of overrated and really isn't intense enough or that good of a leader......

I get it if Read was playing decent and just not scoring but Read's entire game has been horrible. Putting him with Jake and G isn't and wasn't going to fix that. For whatever reason, Matt Read is nothing like the player we have had the past few seasons. They have tried Schenn, Vinnie, and others on that line with very little success. There is no reason to think that putting Read there would help. Berube has no problem sitting other players for poor play. Why are players like Read and Coburn exempt from that? Neither of them have earned special treatment. Both Read and Coburn have hurt this team far more than they have helped. If players are to be benched for poor performances then these 2 are next in line. Not promoted to the 1st line. - Daveflyers36
None of us know if playing Read with Giroux and Voracek would get Read going, until it is tried. It's better then the alternative. Read and Coburn are immune to that because they have been strong players for this team, for a number of seasons, and they are proven veterans. Coburn is being asked to be the lead defenseman on this team, when he is not a lead defenseman. I think it has affected him mentally, and same with Read, who is in a deep funk offensively. Sitting them serves zero purpose. Trying things to get them playing better is a far better approach them punishing them.
Read wasn't rewarded or promoted to the top line for good play. He was moved there in an effort to see if it can help get his offensive game going. If that did happen, that would obviously serve the team. As Berube has said, scratches are on an individual player basis. Scratching just to scratch does not serve a purpose. There are no players to replace Coburn and Read on the roster. |

It's easy to want to sit players, but does anyone think of the alternative as to who would take their place and perform better? Bench Coburn for who? Coliacovo(sp)?
Team is at best average to mediocre and the record indicates that. I'm not a huge Berube guy the dude's hands are tied |

this seems a bit harsh, even for pumpkin head - Marc D
Typical "love him if he's on your team, hate him otherwise" kinda player.
From what I've seen, he's a talented kid with a high motor, good hands, who goes hard to the net, and who seems not to shy away when the game's intensity heats up.
He's not the blockhead his dad was by any means, but his grin bares a definite familial resemblance. |

58pts in 27-games for London this year, 7pts in 4-games so far in the WJC... don't care who his dad is or how his face looks, I'd take him on my team any day.

His hands aren't tied. Why not play Colaiacovo? Why bury Del Zotto in the press box for 11 out of 13 games, when he was among the team leaders in ice time?
Nobody is saying Berube has a great roster to work with, but his handling of it has been very questionable. |

Lol, Morin had better be a good one, because there's no shortage of guys who went after him that are looking like all kinds of special (Domi, Morrissey, Mantha). |

He'd better pan out. I like the kid but I walked out of Xfinity in disgust when they made the pick. I still remember the look Coatesy gave me when I threw my arms up in the air. |

Because Colaiacovo simply isn't a better player then Coburn. And there isn't a forward not playing that is better then Read is. If Del Zotto had continued to play like he did in that 2 week span, he would've never been taken out of the lineup. He became a rover who instead of playing in the team structure, started playing as an individual, and making far too many risky plays. He has to be a defenseman first.
In my opinion the criticism of how Berube has handled the roster is what has been very questionable.

Dome valid points here. I just don't agree with the amount of time he benched MDZ personally.

Same boat. I was really pulling for Pulock. Morrissey, Domi and Mantha I really liked as well. I thought if they really wanted a big imposing D man they were in a position where they probably could have moved up for Nurse at not all too high of a cost. |

Random question:
Let's say the Panthers win the Cup this year. They go back into the dressing room hype as (frank) and pop the champagne.....
What do Barkov and Ekblad do? Watch everyone drink?

There were a lot of guys available there. Morin has certainly improved, but he's basically going to end up as a somewhat one dimensional player. He's going to be big and nasty, a good defender, capable of skating decently and making a first pass.
Doubtful he's going to produce much offense, ever. Anyone expecting Pronger clone, or something similar is going to be disappointed. |

I don't either, and would have liked to have seen him back in sooner. He wasn't very good last night, but he was in a tough spot not having played in so long, and then the skate cut. I have to look at this way. Del Zotto fell out of favor in NY, and was not given a QO. He failed to catch on in NAshville last year only playing 25 games. His play has been up and down this year and he became a healthy scratch again. That's 3 teams and 3 different coaches who had a problem with Del Zotto. Is it on Berube or Del Zotto? What we don't see is what goes on in practice. What the player is doing to earn a shot back in the lineup. Lecavalier did something to earn playing time again and is producing. Del Zotto has to do the same. I think that absolutely there are issues with this team that Berube shares culpability in. The lineup decisions aren't one of those areas in my opinion. He has pulled all kinds of moves to try and get this team going. The criticism in that area has been far from objective, because no matter what changes he has made, he has been criticized for it. There's a lot more on the players of this team then there is Berube. |

He's still offers a huge risk/reward proposition. I just feel much better about the state of the future after they picked Sanheim. I'd feel even better if they could somehow nab another one of the top d-prospects from this draft.

I agree. I'm not anti-Morin. He's getting better and looks like he'll at least be a solid guy. But, sort of like the Goulbourne pick, there were a lot of guys with higher potential ceilings available. |

I'm hoping for a physical version of JayBo. I think that is sort if where he could top out at if he can improve his offense just a little bit.

I'd be happy with a more nasty Coburn. I doubt he ever hits 40 points. Jay-Bouw was a pretty solid offensive guy in his prime |
