That's the thing, with Morin a year older and 2 years removed from his draft year, he should be at least ready to play some sheltered minutes at the NHL level. Ghost too and possibly Hagg. Sanheim may even be ready. These guys can't be blocked by a guy like Schultz or Grossmann. At some point, too much seasoning in the minors could be detrimental to the young dmen's development. - NickTheKid87
They should really have a couple of low priced vets to fill out the roster. Guys who can play, but you won't care if they're scratched in favor of younger players.
It is a tough pill to swallow to see players making 3.5M+ in the press box every night. It also kills any trade value they might have had. |

keeping Schultz fits the plan in the latter portion of your post - BulliesPhan87
He would be ideal, but I think the 2nd or 3rd round pick is more valuable in the long run. I don't think he's going to come cheap either. I have a feeling we're looking at 2yr $2.5M AAV |

I can see 2x2, maybe 2x2.25...2.5, I walk away from, but that's just me
Some others' mileage may vary, but $2.5 is where I walk |

Man, I'm as intense as anybody, but if Nick Schultz signs a two-year, $1.75 per contract, I'm shrugging and not giving a (frank) - AllInForFlyers
it wouldn't be the end of the world. The thing is there is so much work to be done on the Flyers blueline, worrying about signing Schultz before addressing the other dire needs is kinda like worrying about your hang nail, when your throats been severed. |

That's me, as well -- yeah, if he winds up being the No. 7 at 1.75 or so, that could feel a little pricey, but his skating stride looks good enough where I think he'll hold up for the duration of a two-year deal and he'd likely play enough, even if he moves to the No. 7, to justify it
Just bigger problems than him -- got to figure out how to make sure these young guys are core guys, got to figure out how in the (frank) to tighten up this system to where they're giving up around 2.5 goals a game, got to get this (frank)ing penalty kill fixed |

I wouldn't consider it a mistake if they kept a cost controlled blueliner over that third round pick. I wouldn't be bothered if they got the pick, either. It's all kind of... whatever, y'know? - BulliesPhan87
It's not really a mistake, either way. We're talking about trading Nick Schultz, not Shea Weber. |

It's not mutually exclusive, though -- at some point, you do have to have guys on the NHL roster who can actually play a role, preferably have some experience.
It's entirely possible that Schenn and Coburn are gone next season, as well as Del Zotto and Colicacovo. That is entirely possible.
That's four guys out of the eight you are currently carrying. There aren't even four prospects in the Flyers system who are remotely ready to handle that kind of load.
Somebody's gotta play defense next year. Schultz, out of all the guys I listed, is likely going to cost the least and, arguably, do the least harm at the price point he will have - AllInForFlyers
I think Coburn and Streit are different than the rest. I would want more for them than the others. I would take a 2nd rounder for any defenseman not named Streit or Coburn. I would probably take a 3rd for most of them assuming there was no retention of money.
The Flyers can replace most of these guys in FA. Hextall went out and got 2 guys who have played better than every incumbent except maybe Streit. I have confidence he can do it again.
Maybe they make a push to bring Gus back and promise him a top 6 role to start the season. He'd come pretty cheap. |

If it's me, I keep Streit and I move Coburn for the biggest haul possible
I love Coburn but it's time

I would pass on that number. 2 years at 2M AAV is as high as I would go.

Which Lindholm was he talking about? Hampus or Elias? Im guessing Elias since he's a forward. |
