From what I read, it's Kelly vs. Roseman, with Gamble taking the bullets for his boy -- and then the Eagles realizing that Kelly could/would walk - AllInForFlyers
He couldn't walk he has a large buyout to pay if he went to another NFL team. But I believe there was a much smaller one if he went back to the NCAA.
They weren't going to give up what Kelly wanted without some level of protection |

With his show-cause over, the Birds probably figured out pretty damn quick that they needed to tread lightly, once they caught wind that something was on fire - AllInForFlyers
I just found it funny how public the power struggle was and how quickly it went from reporters saying it's 50-50 that Kelly would leave to him becoming the Supreme Commander |

Another ridiculous lopsided trade by the Pens.
Been clammering for the Flyers to acquire Perron... sigh - MrBigglesworth
I disagee. The Flyers first round pick is going to be a lot higher than the Penguins.
Perron isn't that good of a player. He's a UFA after next season as well. Adding Perron to a contending team isn't a bad move, a rebuilding team adding him doesn't make much sense. |

Absolutely -- I think they were thinking he'd go back to college |

Yeah, there's no way you trade a top ten pick in this draft for David Perron...and I like David Perron a ton.
It's a fair deal. Oilers traded a key, top six guy and the Penguins pick will still see some really good prospects available. The Pens are gunning for a Cup. The Flyers should be scouting juniors. |

Ever since Banner/Modrak/Reid, as well as the ascension of Howie, the Birds have never been able to keep their knife-fights in-house, have they?

No, they haven't. This goes back to the Braman or even Tose years, though. Always drama. |

Question: If the Flyers go into FA and Marc Staal was available and we have the space available, should we attempt to sign him? |

Good player, probably not worth what it'd take to sign him. |

It would've been an awful move for the Flyers to give up a first round pick for Perron. He simply isn't that good. - MJL
thats just like your opinion, man!
I never said we should have traded our 1st rounder for Perron.. I think we could have traded players for players with the Oil.
Perron is absolutely worth a late 1st rounder plus an undrafted 4th liner.
The guy will be a ppg player on the Pens. |

I'm sure there will be a spike to Perron's numbers in Pittsburgh. I bet their plan is to put him on Crosby's line. He can be a good player, I view him as a 50-60 guy. He also plays LW and position the Flyers are severely lacking. If he could have been acquired for some sort of package that included Coburn I wouldn't be opposed to it. Flyers would have been fools to trade their first rounder to Edmonton. |

Can't move that first-rounder unless a no-poop top pair defender, under 27 years old, is coming back.
I'm not saying I'd never trade it. I'm just saying there's maybe, what, 5 guys or so for who I would |

Always the possibility he'd sign at a lower rate for guaranteed 1st pair mins. Looking at cap geek. If we bought out Vinny and Umberger that would give us 11+ mill in cap space after Pronger's LTIR. If we managed to rid ourselves of both without buyout we could have close to 15 Mill. That is also assuming the D is the same as well. |

Pass.
It would be fun to weaken the Rags, but Staal is a slightly better version of Coburn, not the 1-2 guy they desperately need. |

Canada got a really good draw here, denmark, slovakia to reach the finals. Meanwhile if Russia makes it to the final, they would've gone through US, Sweden while the Swedes would've gone through Finland, Russia. |

I agree that there would have to be a stud dman coming back. I think I would have more than 5 guys I would be willing to deal the pick for. If it was assured the pick would be in the top 3 maybe only a handful of guys I'd trade it for. More likely its outside the top 5. |

If it's 3rd-overall, I'd just take Hanifin and feel confident my defensive issues are probably solved.

A lot of go-go-go early. A lot of hardwork. Both sides look pretty focused. |
