see you go on this pitch about how great he is, but u only want him at 50% the cap hit... no deal, it dont mean a thing without that ring - JoeRussomanno
I'd want him for his off ice guidance to the young centers that the Senators have. We're not winning a cup anytime soon and if we are going to ice a few veterans I'd rather a guy like Vinny that can at least say he's been "the guy" unlike guys like Neil, Phillips and Legwand who are know for taking stupid penalties, not being able to play defensively or never winning anything before. Know what I mean. And, Vinny would be at best 3rd line C. Not taking that for $4M |

They haven't been very good and their roster makeup is pretty terrible.
They need to jettison one or more of their "defensive defensemen".
They need to find something for Vinny Lecavalier to do. He doesn't fit here.
I would also submit that their younger forwards, like Brayden Schenn and Sean Couturier have probably come along more slowly than the franchise originally envisioned.
The current roster needs to hold down the fort (and possibly sit out a postseason or two) while Ron Hextall adds to the organizational depth of this franchise. Years and years of thinking the team was "on the doorstep" of winning the Cup led to trading away of young players and draft picks and general neglect at the developmental levels of the franchise.
The reality is, if it wasn't for Claude Giroux and Jake Voracek, we'd all be debating if the Flyers should pick MacDavid or Eichel. - johndewar

I don't even know what this is supposed to mean... - SuperSchennBros
You complain that people won't give Vinny credit for playing well since his return to the lineup, yet want a guy like Schultz who's been one of the few consistently solid d-men benched because you want "to see our three defense pairs set up the way they were meant to now that there is no excuse of rust." Schultz was the original 7th d-men, but things change after 3 months of hockey. It's not like we have a Timonen/Pronger coming back from injury and need to make room for them (and even then, I can find 2-3 other guys I would take out of the lineup before Schultz). |

And I'm suppose to what? Dislike a player because you do or someone else does? That's balanced thinking. He's playing well. End of story. |

Need to get Schultz signed now. Teams will be banging down his door in the offseason. He is just hitting his prime and will be the backbone of this defense for years to come. Need to get this done now while we can still get the five year discount |

The good old days sure were entertaining. I agree with you though. Hopefully in 3 years we will all be able to look back and laugh at this season. Maybe cry. People grieve in there own way. |

hes played well for .02% of the time he's been here, and there's plenty of sample size to judge from. Until he plays "good" somewhere close to the duration he's sucked I'll reconsider. |

First of all, who are you? I don't think we've had the pleasure of speaking before.
Secondly, Schultz has been OK. It's two different topics. One has nothing to do with the other. Schultz has been good on some nights (Which you can see I'm giving him credit for) and not that great on other nights. We're still losing. The team could use the shake up at times. Players like Lecavalier, L.Schenn, Bellemare, MacDonald and Del Zotto have seen some sitting time. Heck, Luke Schenn didn't sit his last game because he's been playing poorly, he was sat because Berube wanted to get Del Zotto in. Berube should have wanted to get Del Zotto in, both Luke Schenn and Michael Del Zotto are still young player. |

Wow, you'll really puke out anything and expect people to go along with it, eh? .02%? This is a really stupid quote. |

no but i dont cling to the legend of old players and fail to realize they suck now, evenif they can show flashes for extremely short stretches of their old self. |

he was brought in to be a predominant piece here a d for a season and a half has been dissapointing, so he'splayed "good" not great for two weeks and ppl are supposed to blow him? - JoeRussomanno
This is a perfect example of the overreactions in the forum. Is it not reasonable to state that since he has returned, his work ethic and skating has improved to the point where he is actually contributing to the team, and providing some value in his current role? That he has been moving his feet, getting in on the forecheck, and scoring some goals lately? Is it unreasonable to point that out and give him credit for that?
Not to be confused with stating that anything has changed for the future in that the Flyers have to try and move on from Lecavalier if they can do so reasonably, regardless of how he plays the rest of the season.
I think what I stated here is an objective viewpoint which is what should be happening on the forum, instead of sarcastic comments that are now a regular part of the culture on the forum. That's just my take on it. |

No, I just admit when a player is playing well. It's really that simple. For a guy who tells it like it is, I don't see where I've brought up his Tampa Bay days. In fact, I've brought up nothing about his play prior to this season. So, try again. |

He's playing so well that his line gave up 7 shots against while only generation 3 themselves, gave up a goal to Nate Guenin, and thoroughly lost the territorial battle to Talbot/Cliche/McLeod.
But hey, he scored a goal... he must be killing it, right? |
