I'll admit, I haven't followed Marner a lick (since he was rated out of the top 10 before the last rankings, and figured we'd be bottom 5).

I see the points he puts up, but serious question: if we end up 3rd, should we really be picking him over Strome, Barzal, Hanifin?

Much like Drouin with MacKinnon, and then Ehlers with Drouin, these kids arent playing on the same lines with those talents except on the PP.

And Marner has been tearing up the OHL since Domi has been at WJC. He has 12P in his recent 2GP.

Unfortunately they'll play well the entire season. They'll collapse in the playoffs but by then the draft seeding is a moot point.

Every rumor I've heard had Girgensons attached to it. I'm fine with the deal we eventually got for Vanek, even with the Isles doing so good (against my better judgement admittedly).

I'd be surprised if the inexperience of the Isles gets them passed the 1st round. Imagine landing a player like Rantanen with their pick... or at least using it to move up to get Rantanen. Oh boy.

Marner is on a Pat Kane level pace right now. 2.5+ ppg. With a slow start it will hurt his overall average, but he'll end up at the top of that list or right below Kane.

We are ACTUALLY seeing development. I wouldnt be able to stomach seasons like this without actually seeing development, and then missing out on a top pick. Not landing a top 3 pick at the expense of our young guys actually developing is okay in my book.

Armia, Grigs, McCabe, Pysyk are the only ones there right now, not including the goalies.

The odd thing is Domi and Marner don’t actually play on the same line, other than on the powerplay. But there’s still the possibility of both of them suiting up for their country because they know each other.
