All the players that are on the " so called" block this year don't have very good numbers but, they are very good players. A D man like Myers is worth more then what some think. You don't see him moved as of yet, like I mentioned before if the offer right Murray may move him but until then other GM's have been hearing nothing but dial tones from Murray. - SABRES 89
Agreed . We have a crap ton of good players. But as a team they suck tail pipes.
No body stands out. Hope it changes soon. |

Honestly ? I don't want him traded at this time of the teams rebuild. With the right team around him (goes for all the players) He could end up being a Chara type. He is still young. Can/will he be that ? No idea. Same goes for all the other prospects we have .Lots on here even me have these high expectations for new players/prospects that come on board. All are still young and growing into the game but if they are not producing like a Benn/Taresenko or any other player. We want them gone. (for picks ) Seems Detroit lets them develop and look what they have .Ennis and Staff are fine on this team. Trade them off and who replaces them on the 2nd / 3rd line. What about depth? We need that too. 2 superstars and have one go down with injury and the team is screwed. - cabin
I certainly respect this post. |

Couple things: Myers doesn't have the "nasty" Chara does, and never will. It's something that can rarely be taught. I don't buy it's all because he's been suspended a couple of times. There are repeat offenders that have been able to figure it out. All that being said, that doesn't make him an ineffective player.
Any team that has two superstars and one goes down is screwed, no matter how deep the team is. A "deeper" team may be able to tread water longer, but ultimately they'll fall short. You need those superstars to become a championship team. Like I've said before, if you're going to go through this exercise in futility, you had better emerge out of it great, not just very good. |

After thinking about it, maybe Rex Ryan might light a fire under this team and make a difference. I know before I said I didn't want any part of him but at least he won't look like "deadwood" on the sidelines. - SABRES 89
I like, and agree with what john clayton said...he said that they should be looking at a coach with experience...the defense is starting to peak and as we wait for a newbie to learn from his mistakes, it might end up being too late |

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that if you hire Rex Ryan, you may be looking at having to hire another defensive coordinator. If a guy like Schwartz gets passed over for the HC job, he could very well want out. It still might be worth it, but it's definitely a factor you will need to consider, especially when you are already looking for a new HC, and most likely a new offensive coordinator. |

Make Schultz head coach
Trestman Offensive coordinator and get him a real QB
Pepper johnson defensive coordinator.
That maintains some continuity |

I think Hall is more of a "super star" then Myers but it's not by much. IMO Hall needs a change, a lot of pressure on him with the Oilers because of all the 1st round picks that team has. IMO, sometimes to many " super stars" isn't good either. If your were even talking about Hall. |

true dat...clayton also threw mike Holmgren into the mix as an off the radar possibility, which I think is a good idea as well...not sure if Schwartz could argue with a Holmgren hire |

You mean Schwartz? I'm not sure I like that. He was a bit of an administrative disaster in Detroit, and he's going to have an even worse offense than he did with the Lions. |

Good post 19.
Didn't mean that myers had to punch anyone . (sorry hat lol) just be effective. He has shown it but not enough. Nobody on this team is a standout. Even the oilers tanking have players that are putting up numbers. |

Meant Schwartz . keep him away from the offense and let Trestman handle it . Trestman knows offense. Pepper johnson was under Schwartz already so we maintain continuity there.

I wasn't really talking about anybody in particular, to be honest. You need elite players to win championships. Whether it's McDavid (assuming he projects to the stud he's supposed to), Hall, Myers (if I'm wrong and he does become one), or whoever, you need them. You need a lot of good players to win a championship, but that doesn't eliminate the needs for great ones. I think the Sabres have quite a few potential good ones, including Myers. The question is where do they get the great ones? |

Hard to get the great ones unless you can pull off a deal or draft some, I really don't know if we have a huge chance at the 1st or 2nd pick. I do know they have talked about getting Hall, I don't know how far the talks have gone. |

I still think Reinhart can be a great one. Who cares if he was not in the NHL this year . He has been smartest player on the ice at world juniors . He shut down Eichel pretty well.

So, what do you guys think of the Parron trade?
Edmonton-who can't win a game for the life of them-moves a scoring top 6 winger in the middle of the season for a late draft pick. And, the media and hockey fans got the nerve to complain endlessly about the Sabres tanking--Really? I actually am starting to hope the draft lottery is rigged. If I were one of the 29 other G.M.'s in this league I would be screaming at Bettman that their will be hell to pay if they allow Edmonton to have yet another #1 pick, especially this year. Tim Murray should immediately sell off our UFA's as fast as possible and stack this team with 4 line AHLers so we don't even get another single point in the standings. - sskkoo1
IMO, the Oilers don't win any more or less games with Parron in their lineup. He was insignificant to their team. |
