I think another trade is on the way. Maybe not now, but if a guy like Perron was a 1st rounder, a guy like pouliot or Harrington could possibly fetch another younger top 6 winger.
My ideal lines

Glad to see we didn't break the bank for Perron. I still think either Martin or Ehrhoff get dealt for another winger at the deadline. |

Pretty sweet goal by kap. Kid was invisible for the entire tournament besides that. Total ghost. |

I would actually look into the asking price for Lupul. WHEN healthy, he is a pretty good winger. Leafs would have to eat some salary though. |

Yup, either that or take back a salary dump (Scuderi? Hell he can't be worse than the D we're currently icing). I'm sure something could be worked out, and as a guy who is a fan of Lupul, it'd be nice to see him in a situation where he could challenge. |

Its all exciting about Perron and everything, but just give me more Downie and Sid. Downie needs an A on his sweater. Hes the heart of the team. Can't wait to see how many points plus mayhem he causes tonight. |

I don't see a trade "needing" to be made right now. Absolutely, it would do great things for this team to get another top 6 winger, but we have Rust showing great talent, Kapinen looks VERY promising as well for next year... and Dupuis could be back for the end of the season/playoffs.
I've been harping on Kunitz having a better use with Malkin, since Malkin has struggled to find synergy A LOT more than Crosby. This is assuming Perron works with Crosby of course.
This is what I think that lines will look like at the start of the playoffs, with a Dupuis return.
Perron-Crosby-Horny
Kuntzi-Malkin-Comeau/Bennett
Dupuis-Sutter-Bennett
Downie-Goc-Spaling
Comeau and Bennett could swap... but since Comeau is to return in about 6 weeks, I believe he will get to retake his spot on the 2nd line to see if he can keep up the performance from before. If not, he COULD drop down to the 4th line.
Adams in the booth.
No Dupuis... Downie bumps up, Adams up... and whoever you want in the booth.
Don't ask me about Defense... just too much talent and the Martin speculation for me to make even a reasonable guess. |

Scuderi has become a "More harm than good" defensmen, and not by a slim margin, but a more than respectable margin. I'd say his value right now, with the Veteran and Stanley Cup presence... is around 2.5-3 million top. And I am NOT a fan of Scuds, but this is a bounce back year and winning two cups is always going to inflate a player's value. |

While waiting for my soup to cool I watched Perron's goals. Kind of reminds me os Hornqvist in that he is not afraid to shoot and Malkin or Sid will create room for him to shoot. He is a bit grittier from what I can see than expected which is all the better. Really looks to be a solid trade acquisition. |

Yes... but its still 3.375 million for a +7, 5 point defensman...
Last year, 53 games, 4 points and a -8.
Just not that value you want, but hes garnered A LOT less complaints this season. Especially with his grooming of Despres and helping bring in the AHLers as well during the injury plague.

Yeah, he plays bigger than he actually is. It may lead him to get hurt from time to time, but he's a guy with heart (and hands) who you guys will soon love. |

Conditional pick for 2016. 2nd if he doesn't get injurred for more than 5 games total from the day of the trade. drops down to a fifth depending on time spent injurred.

He set the bar so low last year, that his below average play seems to trick many people into thinking he has been average. He hasn't even been that. He puts his partner in soooo many bad situations. I would rather he sit to be honest and play 41 in his place when Martin is back.

I wonder... With Rust showing flashes, I wonder if he's the winger that Sutter needs in order to continue production without Beau Bennett. Perhaps, in a world without further trade, we can see
Perron/Crosby/Hornqvist
Kunitz/Malkin/Bennett
(Dupuis?)Comeau/Sutter/Rust
Spaling/Goc/Downie
I'd rather have Downie on the third and keep him and Flats together but I'm not sure he can play left and Rust never once played left in college. IDK, it's just something to try out if we don't trade for a LW for Sutts. |
