So.... you want to promote a 3rd line player, who has been playing GREAT with Sutter and Bennett, to his opposite side wing, just to move down our 1st line winger for a bit more balance.
Yeah, you must be a God of Hockey knowledge. Why not just give Crosby Adams for better balance. - Guile
It's not his opposite wing.. He can play both wings.. He played the left wing with stammer and Marty... But is listed as a right wing as well... He has proven in the past he can contribute with elite talent. And I actually think he plays better with Sid than he does Sutter. A bit more balance is exactly what the penguins need on their top 9. We've has solid 2 lines in the past and it has not worked so why not balance out your top 9 with someone who can and has played with top level talent in his career while giving Sutter and Bennett a shooter in Kunitz that can finish plays? |

Two big issues with your statement.
First, Downie wasn't on his line, that was during line cycling in the middle of shifts.
Second, a much less stupid way to credit that, is that the team got back a much needed player while half of the roster has been injured.
You can't be dominant with half the team out, its stupid to think otherwise, and you are just embarrassing yourself here. - Guile
Downie was on his line actually honey. Kunitz played on the third with sutter and bennett. Spaling and downie played with sid. Must've missed that part. Quit embarrassing yourself |

Yeah... Except the first line had Rust up there, not Downie, and Kunitz was on the 2nd. Try again kiddo |

Because this is HockeyBuzz, check all logic and reasoning at the door.
Kinda like how everyone assumes Adams just attacked Malkin. Maybe Malkin was being a dbag? Everyone here assumes that every NHL player will be happy to take a cut to play in the glorious city of Pittsburgh. - sammy87
Lol, who cares? A fight amongst teammates. The only point was Adams is a scrub and Geno is awesome. I could care less what Malkin did or didn't do. If Malkin gets hurt, the Pens are screwed. If Adams gets hurt its addition by subtraction. |

Tonight's #Pens lines:
Spaling-Crosby-Downie
Ebbett-Malkin-Rust
Kunitz-Sutter-Bennett
Farnham-Goc-Adams
Downie played with Sid and Spaling all night... nice try tho. |

Suck a Richard kiddo, NHL says otherwise. - Guile
So you're going to go by a pregame preview that was done at 2pm on gameday and not the official teams line combos done a half hour before puck drop? hmm... makes sense. |

Weird crosby hasn't done much recently but as soon as downie is on his line he gets 4pts... Downie has proven he can play with top guys. - jchst22
Plus downie with Sid and no one (frank)s with sid. Perron with malkin, no one (frank)s with malkin |

You can explain how sid was a plus 3 and kunitz a minus 2 but played on the same line the whole game then |

Why replace Ebbet with Spaling? Ebbet/Malkin/Rust was working just fine...
To everyone saying otherwise: Horny will stay on Sid's right. It worked too well and Horny with Malkin worked too poorly to justify this not happening. Sorry to everyone that wants Downie on Sid's right. |

If there's one thing that we know about HCMJ, that he has shown a persistent commitment to, it's playing Sutter and Bennett together. - hardnosed
As he should, they have shown great chemistry and make our third line a threat.

Pregame line rushes:
Downie-Crosby-Perron
Rust-Malkin-Spaling
Bennett-Sutter-Kunitz
Didn't pay close attention to 4th line. Assuming Farnham or Ebbett is odd man out. |

just in case you needed even more proof... Downie played every one of his shifts with Sidney Crosby, while Kunitz played every shift, other than the Power Play with Brandon Sutter...
correction: Kunitz played ALMOST every shift with Sutter and Downie played ALMOST every shift with Sid. |

this has Downie playing 15 minutes with Sid, while Kunitz only played 3 (PP) with 87.. buuuuut Kunitz played 12 minutes with BB and Sutter. |

I just noticed we weren't graced with the presence of Habs fans spouting off how great Price is. I guess they learned the last time. |
