Not much going right in the Burgh at the moment. - Sell My Monkey
Yeah, except the Steelers are keeping it close but not so much on the ice tonight, just bad tonight. |

You guys are going to have to adjust to the Habs speed like the rangers did. If not, you can kiss the cup goodbye.

F'in Price is the only thing saving these guys. Johnston gave the green light to the defense to activate for the end of the game but Scuderi and to a lesser extent Bortuzzo are dead weight on the rush. If they had to play Harrington they should have sat Bortz and played Pouliot. There just isn't enough fire power to beat a defensive team like this, if Hornquist and Comeau are playing Montreal would be overwhelmed. This insistence on playing Scuderi and Adams because of their tenure is killing us certain games, sometimes we can hide it well enough but other times it's glaringly blatant. Can we trade Adams and a couple thirds to Buffalo for Drew Stafford? We are set at defense and goal and that would give us:
Stafford Crosby Perron
Kuni Malkin Hornquist
Bennet Sutter Downie
Spalling Goc Comeau
I think that's a well balanced group and maybe enough grinders to get the dirty goals in the playoffs. I'm just sick of the Penguins having games like this one tonight where they can't buy a break. |

Try being a Leafs fan - lumlums
Haha, no thanks.
Free goals from refs - Mon 1 Pitt 0
PP's Mon 4 Pitt 1
I'd be upset about if the Penguins weren't completely outplayed by Montreal.
Tough team they got, very machine like. |

OK
You'd think a Queens fan would realize the regular season means absolutely nothing. |

Those games happen. Habs are tough to play when down a couple. All the line switches hurt chemistry sometimes and that's what happened tonight. The roster will take its time to mesh. Hopefully no more absences this year |

Send Martin to LA for a first round pick - now got 6 million in cap trade comeu and 2nd for jags and trade dumlion and bennet to carliona for Tulsity - Palmer117
No, no, no, no. Dumoulin AND Bennnet for Tlusty??? Tlusty is not even worth one of those 2. There's no reason to trade any of the young guys. Next year the Penguins can dine on their ELC's and have lots of cap space with those 3 plus Sundquist and Kapanan. You could get more for Martin and right now Comeau would be a better playoff performer than Jagr. |

You just can't have malkin with spaling and rust. Rust isn't bad, but spaling shouldn't see the top 6 let alone the top 9. Malkin can only do so much. Kunitz looks good with sutter ad bennett now, but with the injuries, Kunitz NEEDS to be in the top 6. |

Not a popular movie at all, only saw it once, but sid and downie looked like that french guy and the goon from Goon. For those who were lucky enough to not see it, maybe having a protector will let sid focus on scoring like he has. Let downie deal with any harassment - jchst22
Letang and the guy that plays Laflame could be twin brothers. |

I just wish this team could stop with the dipsy doodle passes.
Montreal came to play tonight and straight beat us. |

It's roster related as much as anything, no chemistry has been developed because of all the injuries. Just like last year you won't see the true PENGUINS until late march/ early April as long as there are no more significant injuries. It's difficult to get any type of continuity that way, the players aren't as familiar with each others tendencies. |

Cannot get Martin and Maata back soon enough. Too bad I'll probably still half to see scuds face in the lineup and read his apologists blow air out their assets about how him doing nothing of use justifies his presence just because he's not a dumpster fire like last. |

I know there are a few of us here infatuated with the idea of Downie being a top 6 forward for the effort, 'toughness'/'deterrent', and skill he offers but the last two games are great examples of why he needs to be contained on the 4th line.
He's an agitator, he's going to cost you more pims than he gets, thus taking your top players off the ice. He needs to play.
I say this because that interference call was a reputation call, and that is NEVER going to change so no matter how much Downie may reform (which he wont), this team won't get the rub of the stripes.
Downie is such an enigma, he's got the talent just the shortest fuse I've ever seen in any sport ever.
I also think it's time to realize that Scuderi is holding whoever he plays with back. Despres had his worse game in a while and it coincided with him playing more mins with 4.
58-10
47-6
41-51
Mix any of those combos up and it's better than having 4 in the lineup.
Even when 3 and 7 come back Scuderi is the 9th best d man this roster has.
I know it's a silly statement to make, but if he and 27 play in the playoffs, this team isn't good enough to win it. |

Really nothing to read into this one. Penguins have an awful record when playing at the same time as the Steelers. It's like the whole town's mojo goes across the river for the night. |

The poor dead horse continues to get beaten. I really thought GMJR / Mike Johnston / MGMT push towards analytics /etc would have caused the Pens to flex their creative muscle with Scuderi and figure something out to get him out of here. Personally, I agree on Adams as well, but with the lack of depth up front, we dont have a lot of options until we get another legitimate NHL body in here. Scuderi on the other hand...ugg.
I give GMJR a 8.5 / 10 for his work so far with the roster this year. Still a little tweaking to do....

Not too worried about losing the game tonight. We'll get outplayed now and then. Best part was Perron looking good and Bennett on the ice. I love the creative style of hockey they play. |

Last night just sucked all around, oh well get em' next time I guess. We looked flat footed, they were on their toes attacking with speed. Gaps need to be tighter and our defense needs to be strong positionally. It was not last night. Plus Crosby getting frustrated doesn't help. Looked like the ice sucked and our passing was, at best, inconsistent. |

Downie needs some help. He has the entire identity of this team on his shoulders. Farnham should have been in there over Ebbett. Spaling literally has no testicles what so ever. The guy couldn't break an egg taped to his shoulder during a game. Goc looks like a corpse skating around out there, no emotion what so ever. Guys like Ebbet and Rust who should be doing all in there power to stay here look like they got there positions all wrapped up just give them there NHL paychecks. Everyone needs a little more Downie in there game...................Anyone know where I can get a cheap Baltimore jersey to wear to work tom? |
