If we end up picking in the top2 AND we trade Myers for Hall, etc... Then that just makes our future forwards that much more of a dominant group

Then I'd assume Murray would look to trade for another defenseman using pieces like Grigorenko, Armia, or maybe even some of the good looking prospects we have in Juniors, Europe & College

He is our number 1 by a long shot . Our GM has stated many times he will not be moved unless there is a massive overpayment . We do not have to trade him . So why do you do it unless you get that. Not just to placate very few fans on Hockeybuzz . I don't think Tim would even have time to read it.

They don't get Hall for Myers strait up. Myers is a 2-3 Dman depending on the depth of the defense of the team

Myers is not on the level of Hall and will never get Hall straight up that is why. Myers has had 3 bad/off years, gives the puck away this year a lot each game, is not strong offensively, on the PP. Doesn't make other players better. He is a good Dman but not worth an 80 pt winger drafted 1st overall himself alone without other pieces...I'll say in my opinion but it seems pretty obvious.

Myers is 1 or 2 D man and there are about 5 teams that want him, Oilers included. It wouldn't be a 1 for 1 deal if Hall was even for sure on the block. The Oilers want a number 1 D man plus a center or a package in that amount. People that think Myers is a 3 or 4 Damn are mistaken.

I'm glad his game this year is right on track with how he finished last year
I feel much more confident now that Myers will be a pretty darn good player for us... Or get a heck of a return it we trade him

But how often are teams in total rebuild like us with all kinds of assets for a new GM to play with?

Let's not act like Myers is Lidstrom or anything
He still makes his share of mistakes
And I think Strachan has looked pretty good in general, not just with Myers

Great rookie year
Rough start to sophomore, ended with 37 points and playing great against the Flyers in the post season.
Had another rough start 3rd year, finished playing great
Horrible lockout year. Not even a debate
Had a bad start last year (as did the whole team) finished with 9 goals in 60 games and was probably overall our best player down the stretch

Anyone have any idea of what the record for most 1st round picks a team has had in 1 year? I would think 4 has to be pretty close if not the record.
