This is why when we make a trade it's better to get back other team's prospects instead of draft picks because Lou hasn't drafted well in the past decade lol

Quenneville could be a 2nd liner. Chatham could be a 3rd if he pans out. I don't expect to ever see Baddock or Rehill in the NHL.

I like Quenneville and if your saw yesterday on your blog I posted that Lou should trade for Jayce Hawryluk (Florida) who played well with Quenneville. I would trade a Jagr for him if Jagr wanted to be traded but thats just me.

Is it not weird that we only took one player with skill in dudek ( quennville is a great talent just not what I meant in this instance) ? You would like a team so hurting for offensive talent would use a few more of its picks on high skill players even if they are projects. You don't need to draft a ton of "depth" guys when then can be acquired through free agency. Where as its a lot harder to land young high skill players in f/a.

The problem with the whole "this guy used to play with this guy" is that NJ doesn't let anyone play outside their system, especially the kids. And when they do, they take a huge gamble with their own ice time because as soon as they slip up they get benched for a week while the vets get more ice time with similar errors.

Chemistry has little use in NJ unless it's after the fact. And NJ has had FW group carousels as often as it's had a head coach carousel.

I agree if they ever do draft a guy who can score they keep them down so long until they don't even remember what it's like to score and can only play defense. We need to add skill into our game not try and make skilled guys worse but better defensively. You could argue that boucher isn't even tearing it up in the ahl this year and we should wait until then to bring him in but the fact is the ahl is a completely different league. Maybe boucher should be developing on the second line in the NHL where he just needs to figure out his timing and once he does he will be a good player, he has the skills. He also doesn't need to be worrying about playing as strong defensively as Elias and produce.

My problem is I feel Lou shouldn't draft/run this team anymore...look at a team that has been able to stay on top just as long as the Devils did in the 90's because they knew how to draft well...Detroit

Anderson 3rd rd
Datsyuk 6th rd
Franzen 3rd rd
Helm 5th rd
Nyquist 4th rd
Zetterberg 7th rd
Dekeyser undrafted
Ericsson 9th rd
Quincey 4th rd

these are just the players they drafted after the 1st two round that are on their team....can we name the Devil players? Rico (3rd) and Greene (freeagent)

Lots of teams strike out in the later rounds or even with Undrafted players. My issue is in these later rounds when have we been taking guys who create offense in their leagues. I'm not saying never draft a safe NHL player but we need to draft less for at least a little bit IMO.

In his defense don cherry thought Douglas muarry was a hell of a hockey player and a warrior. We should be proud to have him bringing up the rear of our long list of defense prospects.

Severson was picked at 60 so that's good enough for me

Why the (frank) would anyone want to play like him? I bet lou really regretted that pick after hearing him say that poop.

Matteau is starting to look like a pretty bad pick.

29. New Jersey - Stefan Matteau
30. Los Angeles - Tanner Pearson

Tampa has too many kid forwards. Give us one of those. You can have Zid or something for the playoffs.

He's not seeing the ice as much as he should in Albany. Three years after his draft year, he should be in the top-six of the farm team by now. Numbers aren't BAD, but they're lackluster for the talent he was supposed to have as a 1st rounder.

Pearson has hardly done poop since that 5 seconds of "chemistry" with carter. Also matteau is only 20. It's not like he's in his mid 20's and should be flourishing. poop henrique was 25 when he joined the team.

wanted to draft Barbashev so badly last year while much of the fan base was calling for Lemeuix, which i totally understand (who btw is have a nice season for himself). Was thrown off a bit when we drafted Quenneville, but if he pans out to be Henrique, like they compared him to, then i'll have nothing to complain about, that's for sure.

henrique was 22, but in all fairness he played with kovy and parise to start his career.

Holy cow. This entire time I thought henrique was older. I remember everyone giving us poop during his rookie season and said he was too old for the Calder
