henrique was 22, but in all fairness he played with kovy and parise to start his career.
- SteveJ123

Crazy that he was playing with them and has hardly played with any top6 wingers since

Pearson has hardly done poop since that 5 seconds of "chemistry" with carter. Also matteau is only 20. It's not like he's in his mid 20's and should be flourishing. poop henrique was 25 when he joined the team.

I want to believe but I'm pessimistic about everyone after I was so wrong on Urbom. I thought he'd be a regular NHLer

Lots of teams strike out in the later rounds or even with Undrafted players. My issue is in these later rounds when have we been taking guys who create offense in their leagues. I'm not saying never draft a safe NHL player but we need to draft less for at least a little bit IMO.
- blizzzard

I agree Blizz and my point was to show everybody that our team is mostly made up with overpriced, overaged freeagents and not much home-grown talent especially in the later rounds where teams MUST at least fill their roster up with these players. You can't have a team of all 1st and 2nd rders (unless your Edmonton), most teams use these later rounds for their 3rd/4th liners. Our problem is that even our 1st rders, like Josefson and to some degree Tedneby, are more like 4th liners then a top 2 line player. Rico was a nice find in the 3rd rd but when your drafted in the top 2 rounds your suppose to be good and make the team eventually.

I thought he would be a bottom pairing guy that would get bumped out pretty quick. Turns out he couldn't even be that.

"2014 1st rounder John Quenneville's points per game rate is down a little bit, but he's playing on a very good team that's added some high-end talent so he's not relied upon as much offensively."

Actually when you ADD high end players to a team, most truly developing players tend to score MORE....so....

Agree with the rest, classic fringe players. I believe at least two of them have the tools to be excellent journeymen.

Such a good point. I remember zajac being hurt for a while during that season, as he made a perfect timing comeback during that florida series where he scored that all important game 6 overtime goal to force game 7. Maybe Zajac's absence played a role in henrique being so high in the depth chart so early but still it's a perfect point to describe this team and youth. Seems they play youth like they have faith and then all the sudden strip you of ice time and confidence (unless your jon merrill). Henrique scored 25 last year and for the most part this season has played 3rd line with ryder...

Most of us thought he would at least be a "NHL" player

One of the many frustrating roster decisions made in the past two years.

Can Rehill hit?

I'm still optimistic for the future of the D with the kids there already, but the Devils are severely lacking in physical presence on the back line.

Rinaldo for conditional Peter Harrold.

I really hope we don't take Marner. He's tiny and plays center. We have Henrique and Zajac locked up forever at center and we're soft enough as it is.

Zacha or Crouse please.

Is it not weird that we only took one player with skill in dudek ( quennville is a great talent just not what I meant in this instance) ? You would like a team so hurting for offensive talent would use a few more of its picks on high skill players even if they are projects. You don't need to draft a ton of "depth" guys when then can be acquired through free agency. Where as its a lot harder to land young high skill players in f/a.
- blizzzard

Kerfoot is putting up over a point per game in college, black had a great junior career, Gavrus was seen as a speedy talented player but he didn't work out. He does take these skill players, people just see them differently when they don't work out.

He's not seeing the ice as much as he should in Albany. Three years after his draft year, he should be in the top-six of the farm team by now. Numbers aren't BAD, but they're lackluster for the talent he was supposed to have as a 1st rounder.
- Springsteen

If Matteau was a normal CHL player this would have been his first season in albany.

Tampa has too many kid forwards. Give us one of those. You can have Zid or something for the playoffs.

Brayden Point! Connor Chatham...

I don't know how good Sustr is, but I would like him. As for the defense going forward next year I would like to get Franson from Toronto since they have cap issues and he probably won't be back, I would trade Gelly, but a deal would have to be in place, even out the young guys and veterans. When I mean veterans, I mean guys that are not 40 and suck. Franson and Boychuk would look good in Devils red.

Gelly is franson but younger and could still figure out the defense end of his job ( maybe lol )

The only forward that has been consistently in the lineup and decent is Jagr. Only two players can play with him and Henrique has gotten his chances. He has played with Ryder a lot which sucks, but again, we don't really have other options at this time.

I thought Franson was better defensively? Honestly I would just like to upgrade Gelly's defensive game and not have five good defense than have one that has to be covered by his partner every shift going forward. Is Petry better defensively? I saw that he has a lot of PK time last year and this year.

I don't consider zid good defensively so it's like 4 good dmen

IMO, there is so justifying henrique not playing with either Elias or Jagr.

I'm talking about a year or two where Zid probably won't be here and we have five defensemen that can play defense.
