I'm wondering what our forwards are gonna look like next year...
I'm assuming Stewart, Stafford & Mitchell aren't resigned
And call me an optimist, but I'm still thinking we get either McDavid or Eichel, and Reinhart makes the team as well
So I'm thinking our top12 would look something like...
Moulso-Girgensons-Ennis
Hodgson-(McDavid/Eichel)-Gionta
Foligno-Reinhart-Flynn
Deslauriers-McCormick-Kaleta
So I guess that leaves Grigorenko & Armia in the AHL again, unless some trades are made or they ease them in playing limited minutes and McCormick & Kaleta see the press box.
Also, looks like Lemieux would head back to juniors again.
At some point, moves are gonna have to be made to get some of our prospects into our lineup
Next year, Baptiste & Bailey will be in the AHL, and possibly Compher & Fasching as well. Although bc of a limited # of contracts, we could have them stay in the NCAA for their junior seasons

I think you might see some of the older Rochster fringy prospects moving in later this year to possibly be placeholders until the big prospects come. I am thinking of guys like Schaller, Varone, Larsson. I see them as being similar to Meszaros and Benoit. In other words, placeholders that might work out.

Still have a cap to maintain.
They have to spend about 20 mil to put them in the ballpark of what they're at now.
Man I miss capgeek. |

As TM said before this season that wouldn't be a problem. Also, it wouldn't surprise me if "real"moves start to be made after this season. |

Since Staal came back, Carolina is 2-2... And only once did they give up 3goals in a game (and 1 was an empty netter)
They're already playing better

I think as long as they don't have a huge fire sale they will be "ok". A complete fire sale can't happen because of the no-trade clauses that some players have. Remains to be seen how moving Sekera will hurt them. |

There isn't much via UFA though.
Also anyone on a long term deal needs to have more than picks/prospects coming back.
Next season might be where you see them take on salary dumps. Only thing that can help is if the cap were to go down a tad. |

I think they'll absolutely take on salary dumps this season and that will be part of the currency that we use this year to acquire talent or picks. While Stewart had some value the Blues needed to move him to take on Ott and Miller. It wouldn't surprise me if we take on guys that are under contract for next year. The floor won't be a problem. |

I'm not saying it's going to be a problem.
Just stating to keep it in mind when thinking of who will be on the roster next year. |

I think the great thing about our position is that Uncle Terry can go in so many directions after this season. We won't be looking to preserve a draft position and we will have oodles of what will be so important next year: cap space. If the cap doesn't go up there are going to be numerous teams in trouble next year. Teams will need to part with guys they don't want to part with. |

Wow that is so lame.
What was wrong with the current coach and GM? They should have just extended them. Looks like they are going backwards again. When finally it looked like they were going forward. - Jammerz04
Well, the coach walked out on his contract and the GM is under contract, so there's nothing to extend. |

Tatar + Jurco + DeKeyser + 1st in 2015 should get it done imo. Tatar isn't spectacular, but will be a pretty consistent 20-30 G guy for a long time, Jurco is perhaps the same and DeKeyser looks to be a solid 2nd pairing D. The 1st rounder gives them 4 this year, and they can use that package to either trade up to a top 2 position, or drop back for more 2nd/3rd rounders in this year or the next. Buffalo has a lot of holes to fill, so getting 3 solid players and a good draft pick makes sense. Meyers is good and still not in his prime, but BUF has pretty good D depth and if they get Dekeyser as well, I don't think the loss will be that much on the team...I think it would improve the team overall. - mventres

46.5-24
I don't go by games anymore.
If player x has 3 games and player y has 4 games but player x averages out to more fantasy points in 3 games than player y does in 4, then player x gets the nod. |

I've got no use for either of them. Green hasn't been a star in years and Martin is probably near the end of his prime. By the time we are good they won't be of use to us. We will have enough D next year once the kids come up full time. |

If you don't like Martin, get Staal for the back end
Green has 20 points in 30 games and is only 29 years old
The sabres are going to have to spend 20 mil or so and based on that there is no reason to believe they won't make moves to compete for the 8th spot next season in the east |
