Saying that Stafford might get traded does not make you an insider. He's a UFA, the winger market shrunk with the Perron trade, and it's getting closer to the trade deadline. It's painfully obvious he's on the block.
You are not in the marketing department, otherwise you would be working on a much bigger project right now.
Why I'm even bothering with this is beyond me. - CaptainRivet
Not to mention, possibly being fired for leaking out information. |

No matter how many are thrown in? If all those guys were thrown in I think Buffalo would be very interested. For a guy that for some reason can't get out of the trade rumors (probably because his NTC kicks in sooner than later), everyone thinks he's worth a King's Ransom (not saying he's not). I've never been a big fan of Myers, but I understand the value and potential and have no clue why Buffalo would trade a guy that will be hitting his prime right when this rebuild would start to pay major dividends. - Wolfpack5
No one is saying he is worth a King's Ransom . What we are saying is , it is going to take that to get him. He is not on the trade block . He does not have to be traded. So if he is too be traded the deal must blow our GM's socks off. He has stated that.

You can see how he had almost 20 goals in the AHL. Kid has some skill to go along with being an incredible skater. |

I dont think there is any chance that the wings part with that many assets for Myers...as much as he has franchise defenseman written on him he also has mediocre defenseman potential.
Michael question to you here - do you think Myers is worth a package of Mantha or Larkin ++ or just that that is what the sabres want as they want someone to overpay.
Cuz i can understand that point of view seeing as how they dont have to move him but at this point in time i dont see how anyone can value Myers at that kind of return based on his play to date. Just curious cuz this has clearly been a hot topic on many blogs. - DirtyDozen
myers, at the very least, is top-three...he's right handed, can skate extremely well, has a condor-like wingspan, can join the rush, can dish and can score...his $5.5m cap-hit is right on for a #2/3 d-man, low for a #1 right now...in a few years it will look even better...
he's 24 yrs. old with 350 regular season nhl games under his belt and he won't hit his prime for another year or two...
at the very least he a #3, but still has franchise-d upside...he had 48 points (11+37) and was a plus-13 his calder winning season on a division winning sabres team...
*shrugs*
if he were to go to Detroit, imo, he allows for your defense to fall into place, just like he does in buffalo...add that to the above mentioned numbers and I believe he's pretty valuable

Hate how people say myers hasnt played well to date. You cant look at just his points. He plays on the worst offensive team in league, how to expect him to put up points. His team is alot better when he is on the ice. You can see that with team record and his plus/minus.
Well larkin and mantha look like great prospects. they are just prospects and havent proved anything. Yakpov was a great prospect and he hasnt done anything. Only reason larkin is even in here is because he played well in one tournament. Otherwise he would just good prospect.
Myers and two 2nds for tatar, larkin and 1st is fair. |

If someone offered Tatar Jurco Dekeyser and a 1st for Myers that would consititue the huge overpayment you are waiting for and i would bet that the Sabres would pull the trigger on that deal. |

Why isn't Nolan playing the wonder kids together now. They are much better together than they are apart . The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

I could eventually see McCabe with Ristolainen & Zadorov with Myers... Pysyk with Georges until we have another young guy ready (florentino or martin maybe?) |

I think everyone understands that concept - you have spouted it on every thread on this site. I specifically asked the blogger what his perceived value is of Myers versus the value that the Sabres ownership wants in order to trade him. - DirtyDozen
And that has not changed all along . So do you feel at some point Sabres management is going to break down . If you keep talking Myers down? And say you were right , give us your spare parts. That is why you have to keep repeating it over and over. If he is so bad why do all these fan bases keep offering deals for him . Is it in the hopes our management reads hockeybuzz and are just really stupid?

I dont think Meyers is an incredible player (yet) but I dont understand trading him? Admittadley thats an opinion of someone who doesnt watch him all of the time. We all know d men take longer to develop. His potential alone is enough reason to keep him along with him being signed long term. Defensemen are a commodity in today's NHL. You guys may be looking for the same kind of player Meyers is when you start competing. Might not be so easy to find when that happens? - Cptmjl
That's the point.
In here, there are few who are calling to trade Myers, few. The bulk of the rest are in the camp of if someone overpays and we get a top 3 forward+ out of the trade, then we would listen for sure.
Hence why, as Max says, spare parts just aren't that interesting...we will have a number of equal players coming up from Juniors, AHL and/or College ranks...we have plenty of those type of players available...what we need is a guy who can fill the net with 40 goals and 90 points consistently...now you have our attention.
If that is too steep, fine ... then don't pay it ... we are good with it (except for a few).
And if Myters ever learns to throw his purse at somebody, then we will need 2 of thos elite forwards returning. |
