Not having a 1st or 2nd this year hurts them as far as real contenders IMO.

You might not end up picking in the top 2 this year. And you will be god damn fine with Reinhart and Girgensons as your #1-2 centers. To me, your biggest needs are a 2 top 6 wingers (one of them needs to be a top line talent), an experienced dman to play top minutes with Myers (a guy like Marc Staal) and a legitimate #1 goalie. Enroth is a great back up but he can't carry the load of the starting job over a 82 games season.

Your trade assets should be Grigorenko, Stewart and your 1st pick if you fall out of the top 2.

That would make it that we got a 2014 2nd, 2015 1st, 2nd, 2016 1st, 2nd, and Mitchell for Vanek.

IMO one of Grigorenko and Armia will be moved.

We do not have to worry about a goalie... With a solid d core you can win with an average goalie. Defenses make goalies. Remember that. And btw Enroth has been insanely good. He soul reason why we have won more games than expected this season so far.
- Smittyx36

You should read better. I said Enroth couldn't carry the load of a 82 games schedule. It doesn't neglect the fact that he can have some good stretch over the par of a season.

And for your comment "defense make goalies", wow. Concrete example: Nashville Predators. With the same D core they missed the playoffs last year without Rinne. With Rinne healthy they are battling for the top spot in the league. Might want this one back eh?

I'm not saying this is right or wrong but how do we know this until he does or doesn't do it?

Thus far he's doing just fine carrying the load.

To get you need to give. Where does Grigorenko fit with Girgensons and Reinhart ahead of him in the depth chart? He clearly doesn't fit the mold of a 3rd line center right?

Considering your depth down the middle, the logical choice would be to keep Armia, and i believe Grigorenko has more value...

Girgensons playing the wing would create an opening.

Saying that is just because of Rinne is false. They have also jumped about 10 spots offensively over the last year as well. They are finally a well rounded team with the leagues best blue line

There's this thing called playing on the wing. Ask Ennis about it.

Correct but I'm not of the opinion Murray isn't in love with either player.

If a deal must include one of them for a guy he wants, it won't be a sticking point IMO.

Yup they are part of their success as well. Fact is, you need much more than a good D core to win in this league like the previous poster said. Like him or not, Rinne is a huge part of this team. Years ago he did bring a very average Preds team to the playoffs.

As much as I have said Grigorenko should be playing wing, I'm not so sure anymore.

Only concern Murray should have with Armia is he is prone to injuries already. Other than that all he has done is impress, and Murray has said so himself

Agreed but it's not like he's gonna come out and say he sucks either.

At the end of the day it wouldn't surprise me if both aren't here.

To me that's like Andrew Peters suggesting Tyler Myers should play forward. Gus is too valuable as a two-way center.
