He said two potential greats. It was a joke.

Kind of like the article that said "the three worst quarterbacks to win a Super Bowl: 1. Trent Dilfer 2. Eli Manning 3. Eli Manning".

Gotcha, I just thought you were pointing out his duplication of Quick being an error. My bad.

I get that but I think he like Grigo is much more comfortable in the middle.

It was night and day from last year at the WJC Reinhart playing wing, to this year playing center on the top line. Granted he was a year older, but I think he's a natural playmaking 2-way center.

Let's face it, Girgensons is awesome, but he is also playing with hands down the 2 other best forwards on the team, and he's on pace for about 45-50 points max. His offense has a ceiling similar to a Dustin Brown/Ryan Callahan.

Can he play wing on a top line? Sure, center....Not so sure

- sbroads24

True but he's still pretty young (turned 21 yesterday).

The Reinhart thing being on the wing was assuming we got McEichel which means Girgs would be 2nd line ceter, which he will be more than capable of, especially since he will have better or equal player on his line. (I still see him on the wing though)

I don't think Thomas played long enough to be considered great.

While I agree he did win two Vezina's. While much of that could attributed to the strong play down the middle and a pretty good top 4.

I think he is the next Toews. How many other players had this much success at such a young age? By "success" I mean playing a ridiculous two-way game at age 20 on a top line.

I think he is the perfect example of a very good goalie that gets hot in the playoffs.

Right now Quick is the greatest, but they all are very good goalie. I can give credit where it's due. The only dark horse is Osgood due to the fact that he played for a great team but every time he was under pressure, he came out with a great performance. He is a true winner and should be considered a very good goalie.

That list of the last ten cup winning goalies is full of this statement.

I'd argue the only great one is Quick and that might be a stretch do to he's still young and is prone to back problems.

roll 4 lines 12 minutes a game 5 on 5 and run a high temp offense that frustrates the other teams

There are some.

I personally see a ceiling to his offense, he has an average at best shot, and average to above average hands.

He is a dynamite player, and excellent around the net and in his own end. I just don't see a 70 point player yet

While I agree, I do believe longevity is a requirement to really be considered great.

I don't see Girgensons going back to the wing.

The draft goes as planned, they roll 4 lines with Girgensons playing 3rd line center or Reinhart plays one of the wings on the top line and Girgensons stays on the 2nd line.

Right now it's just the waiting game but I don't see Grigorenko here past next season.

- dadeadhead

We have been craving two top Centers since Roy and Connolly............ We finally have one in Reinhart, why move him to wing?

If this team gets to a 2006-2007 scoring level, he might reach that point once or twice. Whether or not he can get there consistently is the question.

Very good isn't great and that's the point.

You need great goaltending to win a cup not a great goalie.

I was pointing out that as of today, Quick is the best of the bunch; future will tell us if it will remain that way because a knee or ankle injury can end up your career way sooner than you think.

Look at Rask's suddenly "average" numbers now that Boston isn't a top 3 team

lets face it you and I both know the high scoring 80's messed with that all time list big time.

There were years where the leader in sv% was in the high .89's to low .90's

I do believe that all along my point was that you need a very good goalie to win and that a good D core doesn't make up for an average goalie. I also don't buy the idea that an average goalie can win a cup if he is hot entering the playoffs. Serious question: when was the last time an hot average goalie won the cup?

The Bruins couldn't score a goal to save themselves and are mightily struggling to clear their own end. The Boychuck trade is bitting them more and more as the season goes and Chara's decline is started.

Agreed.

How great he stays/becomes depends on health.
