Toews is special because he comes up large in big games and plays a two way game. You seem the same kind of special qualities in Girgs. Toews will never lead the league in points and he isn't near the same kind of force that Kane is.
Also, Toews has only hit 70 points once. I don't see people knocking his offensive game. - Slump Buster
Qualities yes. To the extent of Toews no, and remains to be seen.
I love Girgensons, so I'm not trying to knock him, but I just don't see a franchise forward in him. I think if he is your 3rd or 4th best forward, you are in great shape |

Agreed, point was he always been a phenomenal talent, Waite just polished his game. - Habsody
While Chicago doesn't look as polished without him back there, if he were to go down long term with an injury there isn't a doubt in my mind that they wouldn't miss a beat in the standings. |

The gga is what's amazing. If they would score more, they'd win more.
For the 1st time in quite a while, Ward isn't part of the problem on that team. |

Giggy had 2 of the three best defenders in the past twenty year playing 30 mins a night. Without Neids and Pronger that team doesn't win the cup. Pronger gets traded to Edmonton, they go to the cup finals. Pronger gets traded to Anaheim they go and win the cup finals. Pronger gets traded to Philly they go to the finals.
thomas was an avg goalie before Chara went to Boston.
Chicago won two cup with the same main parts with one exception the goalie was different.
Those aren't opinions.
LA's 1st cup run the majority of the Shots Quick faced were from the outside. - dadeadhead
I might be wrong, but when the Ducks lost in the Cup finals didn't Giggy won the Conn Smythe?
I will give you that Thomas is a very special cases and while he was ugly as a goalie can stand in his crease, he had his fair share of games where he was the difference maker.
As for Quick, i thought he was dominant and very poised for such a yound kid. He was a big part of their whole playoffs.
Now let's put this to rest shall we? Let's agree to disagree. |

I feel like the best way to measure a goalie's talents would be to see how many goals he lets in on scoring chances. All this save % and gaa have way too many variables, most notably how well the team plays in front of him. With scoring chances, a scoring chance is a scoring chance. The variables shrink from overall team performance to 'where was the shot taken from' and 'did the shooter hit the post' |

They would also never lift the Cup with Raanta in nets. |

We have won either way with him, no doubt. I just think his ceiling will surprise most people. |

Deal, let's go do a Tania Harding on Crawford and see how the Hawks will fare in the playoffs. |

my guess is the results wouldn't be much different
he may cost them a game or 2, so may crawford
the hawks special team play and 5 on 5 play will determine their post season
crawford was 2.53 with a .912 save% last post season

Who's to say they won't?
Crawford goes out long term, team in front of Raanta gets comfortable with him back there, and his confidence gets boosted.
I list Crawford in that list from 6-20 where a case can be made for putting him at 6 or 20.
The top 5 is the top 5 and that's where the great to elite guys are(in no order).
Lundqvist
Quick
Rinne
Luongo
Price
The rest are interchangeable respectfully IMO. |

Good read.
I am of the opinion Myers will be better than Zadorov even 5 years down the road.
Until Zads actually does something to warrant my opinion changing. - sbroads24
Thank you sir.
I have a similar opinion as you do. Zadorov's one or two big hits a night will not mitigate other defencies in his game. The love of his hits will not be as strong at that point.
Overall, I'd say just keep both and worry about the high level LW or RW via free agency or trade by other means. |

You're right it's pure speculation.
I pretty much agree with your top 5, Luongo could be replaced by Bobrovsky or Rask but we are 80% agreeing that's quite a feat. |

Zads is ahead of Myers as far as in his own end play at the same age IMO.
I'm neither a fan nor a hater of Myers but if the right trade were to be offered, I wouldn't hesitate to move him. Murray knows what he wants for him and judging by the way he carries himself, I doubt he moves him for anything less than what he holds as his value for him. |
