Tatar, Kindl, and a 2nd seems like fair value to me. A top 6 foward, top 4 defenseman, and 2nd rounder in a good draft for a struggling top 4 defenseman with top 2 potential.

I totally get that and I dont think any defenseman in the league would be lights out on the sabres. I think even doughty, weber, and keith would struggle - however i do think that they would outperform the other D on the team. I mean he's barely outscoring Josh Gorges and hes about as far from an offensive dman as they come.

That's because our best foward is Tyler ennis. No real difference makers up front which in turn leads to an awful pp and the ice feeling tilted against us every game. If buffalo had datsyuk and zetterburg up front I bet there would be tons more scoring down the roster. A guy like stafford would be putting up tartar #s. Plus the defense would be feeling less pressure for other teams forechecks.

I think you guys are looking into what murray said in an interview that one time a long time ago too much. Yea, he's not going to get ran in a trade for myers. But its possible he moves him for less than you think even though he said that thing about that guy that one time. Hell holmgren said that bryz wouldnt be bought out and then buys him out 24 hours later. You cant assume everything said in interviews is true.

Oh its not !! From a Sabers fan point of view....just off by what you're saying Detroit's gotta offer.... So Buffalo fan boys ...If Colorado was to trade for Myers they would have to offer RoR, MacK, Barrie and a 1st????

Last season he said no one is untouchable but if you want one of 28, 55, or 57 it's gonna cost you.

It looks bad when you say it like that but when you change it to a 1st line NHL roster player, the best forward prospect not playing in the NHL, a 1st in a deep draft, and a top 4 defenseman it looksa bit better.

But he is still here that's the determining factor. If a "fair offer" was made and Myers is still here what would you say?

The problem with stat guy is he uses his stats selectively. When myers is not in the lineup we are almost guranteed to lose and lose badly. The numbers are not even close.
The team got worse and worse over the past few years before we traded away anybody who could play. Has it affected myers numbers. I think most would say yes. Why I don't think his corsi numbers being down and the team being worse are related is because we are almost guranteed a loss when he is not in the lineup.

I get all this but every player on buffalo is working with the same tools - if you put Keith/Weber/Subban/Karlsson/Doughty on buffalo and paired him on the first pairing with gorges i think they would have more than 2 pts more than josh.

Thats all im getting at - is that he's playing at a level that is on par with players that he is assumed to be far superior too. I think gorges is the perfect example because they are partners - when gorges played with subban or markov they outscored him significantly. When gorges plays with Myers they have almost the same # of pts and they are both feeding the same players.

Tatar is not a first line player he is an average top 6 forward on a decent team.

After all of that you have potential and only potential and a cap dump.

Sure the potential is there and I am sure they are going to be decent to good NHL players but lets face it if that's what was offered for Leetch you would blow a gasket

He also said in an interview after the draft he wouldn't have taken a top 10 pick in return for Myers, let alone the 24th and a prospect that Vancouver offered, and said directly that Myers and Foligno were in the teams plans going forward.

Again, no one is calling him this bonafide Norris candidate, but yes, a team will have to pony up a serious offer for him.

He has said it this year when he had to address the rumors this year as well . If we do not have to trade him and he is our best defense man . Why trade him to just get him out of town?

It is not being thrown around by Buffalo media. It was a dumb reporter from the free press speculating if you read the original source. That is what reporters do at times to fill column space.
