Ok but every top pairing defenseman in the league gets the most minutes and faces the toughest competition. The ozone starts are one point in his favour although they are within a few percentage points of most of the top D guys on the team that arent sheltered.

So yes there are some positives but that still deosnt explain why he's barely outperforming otherr much less talented players on the same team in similar circumstances.

If only they kept stats for how often a player loses inside position, doesnt tie up an opponents stickin the crease, or for whatever reason is caught behind the oppositions net as a decenseman.

It's really hard to score when you are constantly trying to you know prevent the other team from scoring because your forwards cant get the puck

not trying to be selective i just dont see (other than the win/loss stat which could be influenced by a ton of factors) what stats there are that support that tyler myers is a top pairing defenseman worth anything near what they expect to receive.

He's playing 25 plus mins a night against the toughest competition on the team all while playing with arguably the worst forward group in the NHL.

Place him on a team like Detroit and he's doing all those things along with putting up points do to the far superior forwards.


He'd arguably be on the top pairing on any other team in the NHL outside of maybe 8-9 teams. Detroit isn't one of them.

They seem to think that myers isnt a bonafide top pairing defenseman because the sabres arent playing well while I believe that the sabres arent playing well because myers isnt playing like a franchise defenseman.

Barely outperforming. Josh gorges is a minus 17. Sorry we don't have any good fowards to score the puck or free up some space for a shot from the point. He has better stats than josh gorges as far as points and a wayyyy better plus minus. Sorry he's barely outperforming lol.
