JVR for Mike Richards - jmatchett383
I could see some crazy poop like that, or JVR for, like, Ryan O'Reilly or something like that
If they think they've got another LW who could be adequate, I could see them pulling the trigger on JVR, because there are always whispers about his commitment and defense |

JVR lacks heart. He wants to stay another year in college. |

It's bizarre -- some labels just stick to guys
JVR is no more or less consistent and lacking heart than a lot of players I see, but that label sticks with him like few others

Since we're discussing ancient history, I'm still unhappy that the Flyers fired Ken Hitchcock. Should've never made that move. He got the shaft there. Discuss. |

I'm curious to see if Kadri can hold that down defensively
I won't be surprised at anything that happens up there. I could even see JVR getting moved if they don't improve their team defense - AllInForFlyers

Well if we never fired him we never would have had the privilege of seeing John Stevens coach here. Sooo.... |

That is him . I would want no part of this guy on my team. He can score in streaks and that is it. " Invisible Phil" is a common name among Leaf fans. - 3flyerkids
Toronto may way to stop trading with Boston - Rask for Raycroft and and 2010 first (Seguin), 2nd (knight) and 2011 first (Hamilton) for Kessel. not that Kessel is a bust but I think I would have preferred to draft a Seguin and Hamilton than have Kessel |

yeah but come on. for every one they acquire, we all know 3 more are going to get hurt/contract something.
and kunitz seems to be finding father time in the same way richards did. when it comes, it comes hard. |

The irony is that other then the true superstars that go off on 60 goal season tears, such as Stamkos and Ovechkin, all goal scorers are inconsistent. Most on on hot and cold streaks. |

I still say that everything Brian Burke said about Bobby Ryan during the Olympic selections could have just as easily applied to JvR. |

exactly.
thats why its vital that guys find ways to contribute, or at the very least not be a detriment, during their cold streaks. |

I don't see them as much as I used to, but man, when I do get a chance to watch them play, yeah, I can see the defensive issues, but it's not just him.
Granted, that doesn't mean he can't, or shouldn't, improve. But he's not the only one.
He's definitely more consistent as a player now than he was in Philadelphia, though, from what I see. Sometimes, the puck doesn't go in and nobody is great every night, but it's hard for me to see him as not part of the solution, but WTF do I know

Sure, but their contracts didn't matter to the US selection team.

Off topic, but interesting. Baseball HOF voting. 75% required for enshrinement.
The two (frank)sticks that voted for Aaron Boone should have their voting privileges taken away. What a disgrace.

Happy for Biggio. He'd be recognized as an all time great if he played in New York or Boston.
