Chris Therien was the only one who actually played long term with the Flyers. The scary part is only 4 other guys in the last 25 years made it 4 seasons: Yushkevich, Niinimaa, Seidenberg and Pitkanen. So it's not like they are trading away young guys before they develop. They aren't even recognizing NHL-level defense talent. Those 5 guys are the best and none of them are anywhere near great players. - psuhockey

I like to think so. We are planning on getting married this year and want to write our own vows. I'm just trying to decide if "I promise to tank and heal for you" is appropriate.
Yes we game far too much together.
That's what we do when not watching the Flyers. |

Which are the best teams, historically, at picking and developing D? Are we the worst? I'll expect the report on my office later today. - coffee junkie
I don't who is the best but Chicago between the 2002 to 2005 drafted 6 defensemen who have played more than 300 games: Keith, Wisniewski, seabrook, Byfuglien, Barker, and hjalmarsson. Its true Barker was a bust, although he was used to get Leddy, and Byfuglien played a large part of his career at forward, but Chicago drafted more defensemen to play 300 games at the NHL level in 4 drafts than the Flyers did between 1987 to 2005, or 19 drafts. You can even expand it until today although Sbisa is 1 game away from 300 which would give them 6 since 1987. |

NSH has got to be the best, recently: Josi, Weber, Hamhuis, Suter, Ellis, Jones, Franson, Klein, Ryan Mother(frank)ing Parent, etc. |

Deserved to make opening night roster? He could not make top 6 on a team of 20 year olds. It looks like he could use a season with the Phantoms before he makes the big club. He looks a little slow to me - 3flyerkids
i dont know if any of our current guys could crack that roster |

#BerubeLogic is to reunite the defensive pairing that gives up the most goals when we play Ovechkin and the red-hot Capitals.

Nashville has 6 dmen who have played over 300 games since they 1st started drafting in 1998. Guys like Josi, Ellis, and Jones have a little to go but unless of an injury will get there. So I think it pretty safe to say they might be the best at drafting defensemen when you consider the studs like Hamhuis, Suter and Weber in there with future studs like Josi and Jones.
Even they have had some big misses in Blum and Parent. That shows what a crap shoot drafting defensemen is. Both those guys looked great right up until they were about to become full time NHLers. That's why I try to temper by expectations for the Flyers prospects. You never can tell until they play at the speed of the NHL. |

That defensive corps of 20 year olds would rival the defense of several NHL teams. They're basically the CHL All Stars out there. The fact that he made the team over guys like Hayden Fleury and Chris Bigras is a pretty big testament to how he's viewed. |

Yeah, pretty much. They take a lot of D in their first-60 picks. Flyers traditionally haven't, but have kind of done a 180 on that. We'll see if it pays off.

Damn right. Let's add another: Hanifin, Kylington, Werenski anyone? |

I know it will never happen, but would you do, right now:
Couturier, Simmonds, Coburn, 2015 1st rounder
for Shea Weber
Again, will not happen, but would you? |
