12 min detriot.
12 min against LA.

Tampa. Healthy scratch in place of Manning.

In both played roughly 8minutes less than any other dman. Yeah that's some coaching to get excited about. At least he got more than the 5 minutes Akeson was getting. Lucky bastard.

He's certainly mishandled the youth at points. If he only wanted to ice Ghost for 12 minutes he shouldn't have had him in at all. That just puts too much burden on others to make up the minutes. Half the D men are playing more minutes than they should already.

Then there's Hexy ripping him for hardly icing Laughton. If somebody wants to go in direct opposition of Hexy on that subject I'd really love to hear it.

Sure, but doesn't solve the problem of these dummies always getting in the way of plays. 4 on-ice officials is a bit much.

Laughton's had rookie mistakes, but he's also been a pretty effective player.

My issue isn't that Berube shouldn't give more leeway to the vets, but based simply on his usage, he seems to feel that there's guys on the team who are impervious to being held accountable with scratchings. I'm not saying he should bench a guy like Streit, Grossmann or Coburn for 9 games...I'm saying given the way that the team has played, nobody should be benched for that long.

Berube mentions-specifically how well the defense has played when discussing keeping Del Zotto out, but the bottom line is, the defense hasn't been good.

On the road trip from Hell, the Flyers allowed 4 goals per game. On what planet is that good defense? Berube was asked specifically about the road trip and he said that defensively he felt they looked really good. If he actually believes that, then he's an idiot, and if he doesn't then he can easily say that defense is a team thing, rather than single any one or two guys out.

Yea. Maybe our reward wont be spending so much time in the shelley suite this time

The fact that the 06-07 season of 56 points or whatever the (frank) it was ultimately turned out to be a 6th dman/healthy scratch is about as pathetic as it gets. Disgusting.

Per #Flyers GM Ron Hextall, Steve Mason will take part in Thursday's morning skate.

The GM made the decision to recall Ghostisbehere, not Berube. Sheltering a rookie, not to mention a rookie that wasn't really ready for the NHL, is not an unusual coaching strategy. Nor is it an unreasonable one.

The comment when asked why Del Zotto was out for so long was just to deflect away from having to comment directly on why he was keeping Del Zotto out. As far as goals allowed, that is not just on the defenseman, it's on the team as a whole. Now instead of just criticizing the actual decisions that Berube makes, now his comments are going to be criticized also. Coaches not being completely truthful with the media, or using the media as a tool, is a pretty common occurence in pro sports.
