drafting a goalie in the 1st or 2nd is dumb IMO you can find late ones that are very good
The proof is in the pudding. - gerbe75pts
You mean like jake allen or john gibson who were both taken in the second round? the ones you just said you wanted to trade for?
PS. I never said the first round |

No we shouldnt. Im not hear to argue with you. I stated that I see the sabres drafting one relatively high as in 2nd or 3rd round. thanks |

With the excess of 2nds I wouldn't be surprised if they take one last 1st or early second.

Why is it people pronounce Sorbet (SORE-BEY), but people pronounce Sherbet (SHERBERT)? - Buffalo-Sabres
They are using the same rule that results in almost everybody call the guy Nathan GRRRBee and Rayzer calling him Nathan JurBAY. |

i'm just saying why should we draft one when you could just trade for a young one that did his time and ready now like Allen or Gibson
if you draft one they won't be ready till maybe year 6 or more ..
just draft one in round 5 or 6 if you want to draft one bad |

Thats how I feel.. not so much in the first but if we can land the best goalie prospect with one of our seconds, im all for it.
Also about the pegulas and the book they read... Really? |

I really think we should go after John Gibson or jake allen at the deadline ..
ducks have a Frederik Andersen i don't think they need Gibson anymore - gerbe75pts
I don't know. I think they'd be more apt to move Andersen than Gibson. I think the proof in that is that they started the season out with Gibson and realized he wasn't ready yet. That's their guy. It's a matter of waiting for him to be fully ready though. |

You say it as if its so easy to do. Why havent we traded for one yet then? wouldnt you think we would have one by now? Why would a team spend all that time developing them just to trade them?
Its not a desparation move. Its preparing for the future just like any other pick you make. Gibson was drafted in 2011 and hes pretty much NHL ready. So 4 years or About the same amount of time a 2nd or 3rd round prospect would be ready to play. |

I hadn't heard about a book they read. But, I know that most people say that a team should take a goalie every year. They take the longest to develop. They also have the biggest chance of not living up to expectations. |

Yea I agree. But If there were a chance to draft the clear cut best goalie prospect in the draft in the second round I would do it.
Example: Demko last draft |

I would venture a guess that Murray doesn't feel he needs to do so. There could be a guy in the system they feel will be able to take the reins at some point. |

Or they just are not available. Im pretty sure Murray at one point said that none of our goalie prospects are even close to playing here. |

That's fine with me too.
I like the idea of Gibson, but I don't think ANA would be willing unless you are giving them a piece to help win now.

Right, but that's just it. They're prospects. They have 2 guys to choose from right now that they can use until they feel one of the prospects are ready.
There are several interpretations to what's been said. |
